Might be a bit late, but here's some advice. Etherchannel is used between switches. An IP is a layer 3 address. Switches are layer 2 devices. Because they operate on a lower layer, they do not need layer 3 addresses. So there is no reason (that I could think of) where you would need to assign an IP to an etherchannel port. Hope that helps!
