    Looks very good. Thanks for this look at it, I like the look of this set up much better than the initially released version. Yes the only concern is the bracket gives more peace of mind as you pointed out. Hopefully the one in production won’t be too bulky.

    I like that 360 says you will get it in 7 days when it reality it takes 8 weeks to get to you. Also if you put the battery to 1080 and 24 frames you can get 3 hours 4 and 1/2 minutes out of it.

    thank you for the good information. I had hoped they would have put an adapter on the bottom for connecting various mounts. My Ulanzi case will be here in a day or two and I cannot wait to see how it works in contrast. My Telesin Ulta Selfie stick arrived and has made the boomerang journey back. It was broken on arrival. :-(. The friction hold was next to non-existent and the bottom 2 sections just fall back in.

    Cameras do get very hot (the GoPro Hero8 also gets very hot), but what constitutes actual problematic overheating is something different entirely. So we need to be careful about what we term 'overheating' as opposed to just a hot to the touch camera body. More than likely Insta360 simply increased the threshold at which the cutoff occurs. They will have done this by considering the actual point at which operation becomes unsafe or problems will occur. It's likely that the original cutoff point was simply overzealous and that the camera could actually tolerate much more. If the camera was overheating you would notice issues such as noise on the picture, or the camera would simply burn out. Unfortunately the only way to reduce heat on the body of the camera is to install fans and/or make the body out of heat dissipating metal/heatsink style design, which adds weight and bulk.
    That's the problem with cameras that feature ever increasing resolution and complexity in terms of the pictures they produce. Thermal limits are constant balancing act. You only need look at the Canon EOS R5 to see the sorts of compromises that need to be made when you don't have an active cooling system. Cameras are always subject to the laws of physics.

    Nice video. As I use it as an action cam, I use the Ulanzi case for the extended battery. It's worth it.
    By the way, since quite a time I have trouble with the storage card. I get the message "storage card too slow" or something like this. I never had problems before. Is there a reason for this? Maybe you can answer that question. Many thanks.

    • @EatSleep360
      @EatSleep360  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Marc, I usually use sandisk extreme cards and these are fine for the speed. It’s strange you have only just started getting the warning - sometimes cards deteriorate so it’s worth trying a new card.

    Thanks for great information and a great channel. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet, but am getting close. My question is this, I am planning to take a bicycle travel trip and wanted to use a 360 camera to get videos while riding. The terrain should be paved roads (mostly). Would the extended battery on a selfie stick mounted to a bicycle be a good way to go to make sure I don’t run out of battery? Would this be safe to keep the camera from getting trashed? Thanks in advance for your insight.

    • @EatSleep360
      @EatSleep360  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can’t comment on how safe it will be - to make it safer you should get the Ulanzi cage for boosted battery - smooth roads are safer. Make sure you have a good strong mount.

    My camera stops recording at 70°C after about 25 minutes or so using the 360 mod, measured with my FLIR camera. 55° almost seems frigid compared to what mine gets to!

    • @Axyusi
      @Axyusi 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EatSleep360 Well I did two tests with the latest firmware and I can confirm that it definitely did help with heat management. Instead of only 25 minutes I managed to record a 50 minute session on one run, and a 38 minute session on another. The difference could be because the ambient air was a few degrees warmer the second time around, but in both cases the outside still measured to shut down at around 70C. My camera definitely gets scaldingly hot when it stops recording due to heat, especially around the port cover since that area transfers heat a lot more. In any case, the extended record time is a serious benefit for me, as that was one of the largest complaints I was having with my camera up until now!

    how long should it record for on standard battery ? I was using mine as a dash cam recently and it was overheating but i was on h265 HDR mode. I backed it off to h264, 4k 30 and now it seems to last for 45 mins or so. Ive used loop mode so it will stay on as long as the battery can handle. the thing gets very hot to the touch. I'm gonna run my car inverter to it and plug it in and see how long i can run it on loop mode. what if I'm driving for four hours, will it work? or should i just get a dash cam?

    I’m considering between the insta 360 1 inch vs GP9.
    I’m not sure if you can help me...
    3 questions on things I’ve read on Insta360 1 inch:
    1) max record time of 28-29mins because of overheating. Does that improve if using an external battery pack? Or use only an external pack without the battery?
    2) When using external battery packs, you need to press the ON/OFF every 10mins? Means, I can’t leave it alone to record a 2 hr footage?
    3) Are there any recording gaps when shooting longer videos? I.e. the cam saves the video into smaller blocks of 30mins and are there any gaps between those files?
    Usage will mainly for my drumming footage for concerts and as an action cam also.
