I was at the Cubs game this past July 1, 2022, v. the Red Sox. What a remarkable facility, and neighborhood. George Steinbrenner had the same vision with his proposed Yankee Village. However, 1) George went into decline, and eventually passed; 2) The Steinbrenner family is pretty frugal, compared to Big George, and scaled his vision; and 3) city and state push back!
@Rowdy Jr. I get it it is what it is but it doesn't mean you can't restore the original ballpark you have like my Cubbies did! That's why i can't understand why the Yankees couldn't restore the original Yankee Stadium and this is coming from a Chicago Cubs diehard fan!
New Yankee stadium sucks! I wish they could have saved the old ballpark with this type of renovation. Watch the game if you want all these amenities go to a casino!
They've done renovations to both Fenway and Dodger Stadium... They're needed. Not to mention Dodger Stadium sucks and looks like it's stuck in the 60s and takes 3 hours to get in and out of
Dodger Stadium is the most unique city stadium ever created: built horizonatally rather than vertically. True, since it's built INTO the mountains there is not much of an exterior (e.g. Wrigley, Fenway, Yankee, etc), so there isn't an iconic facade. But it more than makes up for that with stunning views. And yes, no subway and train access - so unfortunately there is car traffic. Being a much more modern construction - the Dodgers didn't need a half billion dollar renovation for anything. Besides adding field seats, outdoor bars, and souvenir shops not much has changed to Chavez Ravine. I doubt Chicago or Boston will allow their stadiums to go by the way of Detroit and New York - so I suspect all three stadiums will survive well into the future.
It was literally crumbling. The alternative would have been to tear it down and build it new. I prefer renovations to getting rid of Wrigley Field altogether.
imo the stadium looks and feels great! bathrooms and congestion needed big time improvements, and they delivered. however, the outside of the stadium is awful. they should have made it look more old-timey but with all the new technology ect. but thats just my thoughts. nothing will ever compare to going to a cubbies game for me, except maybe a notre dame game in south bend
Wish the Illitches would’ve done the same thing at Tiger Stadium instead wreck it, after the Tigers left the Corner from 2000-04 I’ve only went to 3 ballgames at Com-Park
Beautiful ball park cubs and Fenway. Apart of Americas history 🇺🇸✝️

I was at Wrigley a few years back. Absolutely the best experience in baseball, whether you like the Cubs (I do not) or not.
I’m an Angeles fan but I love the culture of the Cubs and was super happy when they took it all!
I wish they would have done this with the old Yankee stadium :(
They did...in 1976.

@@brianbsully173 i Agree
I wish they did this with my old Tiger Stadium in Detroit....
Beautiful stadium!!
I will be visiting Wrigley Field on Labor Day Weekend 2016. I will be coming from Baltimore with my Uncle
Have fun and enjoy!
It's definitely one of the best stadiums to watch a game and the experience in Wrigleyville is incredible!

Todd Shearon It is fun I really enjoyed it.
very cool! this is like a free commercial on TH-cam! :)
Next thing ya know......... CUBS WIN WORLD SERIES IN 108 YEARS!!!
So much done. It's basically a new stadium. Now, it's only Fenway and Dodger Stadium left as the old guard.

@@bobboberson2024 Dodger stadium was built into the mountains for earthquake reasons.
Negative, Rocky. It was because of Chavez Ravine. It makes for the most unique stadium in America.
Ernie Banks IS the Face of the Cubs
I dont like the jumbo trons to me it just ruins the field and they removed alot of stuff for the trons really i hate it

The upper deck reserved seats look awfully far from the field, not to mention the polls.
Never been but heard the score board was manual will you keep it that way
yes, the scoreboard in center is the same as its always been! there are video boards in left and right, but hopefully it remains forever! iconic!
this video didn't actually tell me what was being done...
They really tore down most of the bleachers (except the center part)? :,( I mean, what parts of the original Wrigley are still left? :(
Rats are gone....
Why couldn't they have blocked the wind? The houses still won't give us and over-under.

The City of Detroit owned Tiger Stadium. However the Illich family wanted a new ball park. And in the long run they moved to Comerica.
550? Try 750-800M
To many titles won in that ball park
It’s still a dump, but pre-renovated Wrigley was the worst ballpark imaginable
V.P. of Communication should not say uh uh uh duh.
Greed
sellouts
so basically you're adding more places for people to piss their money away on your crap but the actual stadium stays the same. got it
