THE EL CORTEZ IS A GREAT PLACE. THE 4 QUEENS IS MY FAVORITE PLACE IN LAS VEGAS SO I RARELY STAY ANYWHERE ELSE BUT I DO STILL LOVE COMING INTO THE EL CORTEZ EVERY TRIP TO LAS VEGAS.
I've stayed there a few times. The new rooms are really nice. Just make sure you ask for the side that faces away from the Experience. Otherwise you'll hear thump thump thump till 4 am. Kind of cool story about it the barber shop. The original barber passed years ago, and the new owner was going to retire so they were going to shut it down. Then out of nowhere a andres shows up and asks to take it over. They kind of dismissed him. Then they found out he was the grandson of the original barber and hung out there when he was little.. so they set him up and stayed open. Also there's remains of former employees in the basement. Several had no families when they passed and the casino paid for their funerals/cremation and they are still there. There are rumors its haunted. My only real complaint is the door to the bathroom opens the wrong way. So much room in the sink area, it should open out, but it opens in...so if you are a bigger person you almost have to step into the shower to close it. Lol. Minor complaint. Love the low table limits and 3/2 single deck. I went there a few years ago, gambled VERY little and immediately started getting comp rooms. Get that players card!
One of my favorite places to stay in downtown. Mostly played minimum bet on slots and on a future stay, my room was fully comped. Am a bigger person and know the pain of that bathroom door. I am in total agreement with you, sir. Get that player's card!
My wife and I stay there every time we go to Vegas. We always get a room in the Tower. We love it because we like the Fremont Experience and it's only a block away.
🤔You chugged that fine pour of Buffalo Trace like it was some common whiskey like Jim Beam... LOL!!!🤣🤦🏽♂ Great Video, will definitely have to check out the happy hour and SIP some BT🥃
I brought my mom to play at el Cortez and it wasn’t loose. As for me when I played the first time there I played the old buffalo machine and won $300! Hahaha
Just found your channel. Got a recommendation on a subreddit. I am very impressed that you don’t just show the fitness center, but actually use it! I’m usually just one of a very few people who use fitness centers at Las Vegas resorts. Or maybe it’s the time I go in, they just seem to be empty. Great learning about the El Cortez.
Thank you Jaycation for the outstanding view inside the EL Cortez casino and hotel. I think they are the best in all of Las Vegas over all. They treat people right! Maybe not the most glamorous, but the fairest in Vegas I know of and an Outstanding staff. Thank You for sharing!
That dinner looked so good. Maybe because I’m also super hungry. I stayed there at their upgraded suits that you have to walk across the street for and they were really nice, but having to go outside to them was a small draw back
Barbershop was once owned by a man who cut hair of some really famous entertainers. The really old casino is the golden gate. Operated in 1906 but was closed and opened again I think in 1909.
I haven't stayed there yet but make a stop in every time I go since I learned of the match play, free play, and free drink for showing the boarding pass.
Love all your videos. Most times you over explain a lot of things. One example is eating the food at the beginning or even when you’re playing poker. Just a lot of random details us the viewers didn’t click the video for. Fast forward and then give quick update. It’ll save you so much more time for more informative things
This is a great video on the EL CORTEZ- Have stayed here for the past 20 years and seen it renovated and I love how it's kept it's past relevant. Must does- The Prime Rib, sit at a bar and play a machine with a beer or cocktail. The hotel has something for everybody's taste- IDEA- Split your Vegas trip into 2 hotels- old Vegas / New Vegas Cheers G
Really great review and content, Jaycation! El Cortez is a historic gem. Loved our first time visit there a few months back, as well. Keep up the great work! Love your channel. ❤️ Happy New Year! 🎉
Thank you for sharing !!! I want to stay there next time I get to go To Vegas ???? The last time I was there back in 2017 ? I’m due for a Vegas Trip ? I’ve heard they pay our plus they treat their customers really Great ???
You almost got me convinced to give downtown a shot for a Vegas stay. Almost lol. I love the strip too damn much to leave it for another hotel! Definitely a great watch, very informative. I'm gonna have to give El Cortez some of my gambling money next time in town!
@@Jaycation honestly, what's been your favorite stay so far? One of the reasons I love staying on strip is proximity to poker rooms. No action downtown besides Nugs.
Finally!!!!!!!!! El Cortez anyone reading this if you a gambler you gamble here no where else cheap table minimum easier for you to win with better odds
I'll stop by for the food because it looks good and maybe some gaming but staying is a no go for me it's just a little to old for my tastes I prefer modern new hotels, thanks for the tour Jay we'll catch you on the next video.
I stayed at ceasers this year was awesome room and cool spot. But I felt food and drinks was such a rip off. Got married on Freemont. Wanna go back down town I liked the vibe better then the strip.
We also LOVE the El Cortez. You managed to show some of the best of the place. Super friendly dealers and a GREAT VIBE. We stayed in one of the original 47 rooms last year at Christmas time and it will be remembered as one of our favorite Christmas's ever.
The old section of the hotel looks nice with the remodel, but I stayed in the rooms across the way, Not near as nice. They use so much ammonia when they cleaned. It burned my eyes and I had to ask for a new room then something bit me. So if you’re gonna stay there, stay in the part where the casino is not across the way.
I have this group of friends who used to be Vegas regulars. One guy talked about the old poker room being a total dive with *interesting*, unsavory characters who were easy money! 🤣 I really wish I could've had a chance to play at it!
Wow, the El Cortez looks amazing. They have done a great job with the updates while preserving the history. Definitely a barbershop when some of the mags avail include Playboy and Guns & Ammo.😂 My 3 wishes are to meet Jaycation, treat him to a great meal and win some money to pay for the great meal! 👍 I'm planning to be in LV this week so may have to visit El Cortez and check out that rime rib or pot roast. Hoping to say Hi to Norma if she goes live on the Strip this week. Hope she is feeling better.
I will search out those places that have coffee makers in the rooms. I hated that the D and Virgin made you get cleaned up for the public to go get coffee. I like having my coffee while I wake up and before I get cleaned up to be in public. haha
Nice chill place. I only knew the police station is on freemont as Jeff showed it on a live, I think its new. Hope to catch you on your new years live stream.
You should know The El Cortez Rooms are truly HAUNTED. They might have 'renovated" the rooms but you can't renovate a spirit. If you allow a winning 'spirit" to enter you you might wind up a much better player at the tables cause YOU arent calling the shots
Looser slots? What are they known for having more wins? I'm going to Vegas for the first time next month, staying at caesers but I definitely want to try a few different casinos!
MORDELOs - The fighting spirit - I will pass for peace ban fighting in bars and trash. Love this place embarrassed by Mordelo fighting spirit types head over to Walmart.
Hi Jay , happy new year to you fella thanks for all the cool videos this year and looking forward to 2024 . Never been to Vegas must get there one day I’ll work on the princess as I think it looks like good fun . I didn’t actually realised it got so cold out there ! Mind you it’s 6 degrees cold and extremely windy here in the Uk ( as normal) so not looking to bad there lol
Slots are a bit looser at el cortez but as far as video poker goes they need to learn their place. They act like they are on the strip and refused to comp us a cocktail even after putting $60 through the video poker machine within 10 mins. We said goodbye forever sadly. They've changed.

Andres was great he told me the entire story of how he ended up with the shop. Lots of history!

44 years of this place, still my favorite casino in all of LV.
The El Cortez is an amazing place, and I can confirm that the slots are looser there. Michael Nugent is an amazing singer 😊
Glad u enjoy it!

OMG you did a shot of buffalo trace, LOL. That is a sipper drink. Mostly used to make Old fashioneds.
Haha the server said to take a shot
Such a classic cool place.
I recognize that, that's where On My Mind was recorded
I’m pretty impressed with the rooms. I really like the design of the bathroom and the wooden floors. A nice,,fresh look.
It does look good!
🤔You chugged that fine pour of Buffalo Trace like it was some common whiskey like Jim Beam... LOL!!!🤣🤦🏽♂ Great Video, will definitely have to check out the happy hour and SIP some BT🥃
They told me it was a shot so i took it as a shot lol
I’ve been to this historic casino since 1980s to the 2000s. Not a big winner but, it’s a cool place. My uncle loved it.
Wow you took that BT whiskey as a shot, you can sip it with some ice
Haha i shouldve cuz that shot got me
With all that said about the hotel room, I will absolutely consider staying there...
Wow, you finally made it to my favorite hotel. Thank you, 😊
I used to live in the Ogden towers across from the EL Cortez. They used to have a good cheeseburger, french fries, and a draft beer for $5.00.
love ikes bar i have hit so many quad 2s on the machine at left end its uncanny.
Sounds like you found your spot!
I love watching videos of places I'd never step into.
Awesome Vid!! Love the content !!
I will be in Vegas next week. I'm definitely going to try that burger beer and whiskey deal.
Yes! Speakeasy Barber Shop! Love the clip. I always get the Speakeasy Shave with Andres!!! ❤

The cool green picture of a meteor streaking at 19:07 was actually one of the rocks that mysteriously move across "The Racetrack" in Death Valley.
