i messed up, basically i didnt have the legs mesh underneath the main character mesh in the hierarchy, once i did that it worked, thank you again for your help man@@UnrealUniversity
ive ran into a new issue now, at 5:38 you select "set skeletal mesh" in ue5 i cant find it, however i do see ones for the feet, head etc, has it changed to something else now? thanks@@UnrealUniversity
Your tutorials are the best, short, sharp and to the point with no waffle
i wish there was an easy way to get all the items in a folder (Ei. Legs) and simply have them automatically populate a list of choices instead of having to put them in one by one, this approach works when you have a small number of customizable options but if you have tons of them it's so tedious
if you wrote the code and under a character had the same areas covered you could put in then and have the engine do that , but ya its a def code thing not blueprints , would be printable after you coded it however

@@AndreaFromTokyo well someone could in fact do that , if they say made a plugin that then does it ...maybe...i'd have to check but then it might also mess up other projects that place other stuff in directories that are not in the new standard..but it would help sell a lot more and make it more efficient work load

ive got a few pacts where it was in a blueprint you can just change stuff , but it was only one guy that did that work and is a bit more pricey
You can do this using BP, just put your meshes in a table and keep track of them generically!
Nice, I will improve on this like making you able to entirely change the head, arms, legs, torso, thickness, etc.
Man, your tutorials are great. no wasting time making the blueprints all lined up and pretty, what matters is that it works perfectly.

Hey so I did this but for some reason when my character dies the legs don’t have any ragdoll physics. Is their a way to fix this

"Character Selection" Female/Male (character is naked)
"Skin Color Selection" (using virtual arrows )
"Clothing Selection" (for example "head accessory" and using virtual arrows )

6:40 I only get Set Skeletal Mesh Asset and it does not have the Pose pin yours has. Its the only thing different that I can find cause mine did not work.
but does it save ? or does it disapear after the player restart the game, how to create a save systeme, does anyone have a tutorial for that ?
Damn it to hell. 20th video that doesn't contain the information I'm looking for. Does anyone have a link to a video that teaches me how to create a character creation UI? What I'm actually trying to accomplish for this project is to have a it so that when a new player begins a game or a fresh start he or she gets to customize the character they want. Take Skyrim or Baulder's Gate. At thee beginning, before starting the actual playthrough you get to customize your race, appearance and in some cases your back story. I'm trying to figure out how to do that in UE 5 or if it's even possible because I'm starting to think there's a reason no video like this exists.
I tried creating my own character with my own armature and all, but I constantly run into the issue of whenever I am trying to import more mesh options, the thing starts complaining about "failing to merge bones"

first I just watched tutorials, then just a mix of experimenting and playing around and asking. I recommend just having something you want to make e.g. pokemon a game, use what you know to make the pokemon game, then you can research, ask for help online ( unreal slackers discord is good )
Right... well, it's still useful, but I wouldn't call this "character creator". It's more like... apparel switcher. Equipment manager? Dress-up function!

There's a weird base-y sound frequently playing in the audio of the video. Don't know what it is or why, but I tested the video on multiple devices and with different headphones and they all hear it. Sounds like it happens whenever you type anything or click your mouse so it might be your desk vibrations are picked up by your mic.

Can this be applied to skin color? If so, how? I mean, I want to use the arrow, and the arrow will allow me to chose the color of the skin, and not a Mesh or Skeletal Mesh?
i have this set up on my main menu before you start playing how do i save the custom character so when they hit continue and they open the actual map the char they made is usable?

@@UnrealUniversity Thanks but looks to be a problem with mouse after clicking on button to change clothes the mouse no longer works for moving of the person unless I am holding down right mouse button to have my screen and character move to the left and right? I hope you know I mean

That's gonna give the discord server a purpose like making a community that helps one another
There's lowkey no server I could find dedicated to unreal and if it's discord setup or bots that's gonna be an issue, I'm ready to handle it all.
I've owned a pretty big server in the past and it's gonna be fr a LOT better for people who really wanna learn more and make requests for videos since there's a lot more people can do.
I think it's gonna make a great community for beginners to unreal like me.
I'd appreciate a response from anyone who wants this to happen and ofc a response from the creator would fulfil the purpose of this comment.
