Thanks for chasing that rabbit! I have a whole mess of slides ranging between thirty to sixty years old. I imagine this setup would work for slides, yes? The older slides are long-lost family treasures I have been charged with, so I am motivated to do this as correctly as possible. Many thanks, Mark!

The image you are using for the example is beautiful ! I probably shouldn’t ask about gear but am wondering which camera/lens you used for this shoot. Thanks for all your work for this video and your channel.

Funny you should ask because we just published a video from the shoot. You should check it out if you haven’t already :)

Nice setup. Do you or could you use the stand to also digitize old photographs? and objects like jewelery or circuit boards? what else could you use this for?

Just to send you deeper down that rabbit hole: consider the effective aperture. For instance at 1:1 magnification your effective aperture is two stops slower, e.g., f/5.6 becomes f/11. So, to reduce the impact of diffraction, and if you leveled your setup properly, you may have better results at f/4!

Is there any disadvantage to using a tripod and mirror instead of a copystand and level? All that matters is that the negative lies flat & is perpendicular to the very center of the camera, right?

Someone on Reddit made a negative converting toolbox for Capture One. Could be a great alternative for NLP.

      You got that link?

The best is to shoot in RAW and use Photoshops RAW interface to turn negs into positives inside that Raw Photoshop Window itself.... NLP is only Lightroom based, and Lightroom is generally extremely limited anyway. Capture one , by default, always !, "corrupts" all RAW files in the background , before you get to see them. This cannot be accessed in capture one, nor can it be turned off. Capture one is by default a very bad choice. Always !....

@@Beauty.and.FashionPhotographer This is absolutely not ture. Capture One is slightly better than Lightroom, hence the reason why a lot of brands choose C1 as default.
