Your lead foot needs to step out to avoid the center line once completing the turn. Boxers will do the same when throwing a lead hook while angling off; the lead foot needs to step off to the side when making the pivot. In the event of an itf sparring match, this technique won't even stop a lead leg side kick unless you make that small adjustment before the pivot. Having already made the mistake many years in class using this angling technique without stepping off first with the lead leg and a skilled black belt will stick you every single time with a side kick. This footwork has to be taught with the lead foot stepping outside first before turning to avoid shots and retaining balance of your stance.
If you turn so fast with the rear leg in a clockwise direction (like the way it was taught here to evade an incoming attack), you'll find that the rear leg will throw you off balance if your stance becomes TOO narrow.

That turning footwork is really useful one!

I have a question, how is the weight distribution between both legs in the fighting stance, is it 50/50?
