I'm so glad they went with the original Playmates design here. I wouldn't hate Super 7 for giving us a repaint in the vein of the toon look later, but this guy is great. I really, really hope we get Krang in his walker when he comes along; I prefer that look much more than the giant (goofy) android. (I wouldn't say no to the android later, of course.)
I feel this is the weakest of the Ultimate figures so far. For the cost of the figure he looks the cheapest out of them all. At least he doesn't have that terrible leg wobble that the Turtles have. I've seen the alternate head in another review, and I agree that the eyebrows on the helmet look worse now than they did on the original figure, but I get why Super 7 made the alternate head.
@@Daveyj666 Yeah. I'm guessing he's coming soon too. I could be wrong but I figure Slash, Leatherhead, Rat King, and Traag have gotta be coming in waves 5-8.

What a great figure! I really wanted to hate this line because of the fact I don't have unlimited money and I wanted to go all in with the Thundercats but this line is AMAZING! I guess with the economics of manufacturing these figures all these great figures had to be released at the same time but I just wish they were spread out more because all these Super 7 Ultimates from the Turtles to the Thundercats are figures I would actually like to have. Again well done with the review! Thanks!
very cool can't wait for mine to arrive. I do wish Super7 would re-issue the Foot soldier as it sold out pretty much everywhere and is now x2-x3 times the cost it was initially . (side note, I really shoulda got more then just one but wasn't sure how good it was at the time)
I got my wave 2 set in hand. This figure turned out great (though I do agree on the pointlessness of the alternate head, even if I do understand and otherwise appreciate the joke). I actually hope that we eventually get a "toon" Shredder variant of this figure, like in the original toy line where their "toon" Shredder was just a repaint of the original Shredder figure (so I'm not asking for one that is actually cartoon accurate like the NECA figure, which I also have).
This is an awesome update of the vintage figure, but the whole shirtless design for Shredder has never sat well with me, going all the way back to when I was a kid. It just looks odd.
I wanna know how the shoulder spikes are attached, like, there's no shirt or anything, how are the shoulder pads just sticking to his shoulders? Are they glued to his skin? I get it's a toy, but how would that work?
I would have loved a sensible strap system holding the shoulder blades in place, hidden under the cape. They look fused to the shoulders as-is. An eyeline would help, too.
Does The Shredder's cape(s) fit on the Turtles? As a kid I had Leo steal Shredder's cape when he took control of the Technodrome and I was just wondering if that was still possible?
For your movie Shredder, why don't you drape the cape behind the shoulder spikes? All the other shredders have the shoulder spikes exposed with his cape. In the movie they roll the cape back behind the shoulder Sprites.
@@DoodleZoo It did! I always just wondered why he didn’t have a shirt! He looked cool, I just always wondered why he didn’t have a shirt. (And why he didn’t look closer to the cartoon version of Shredder).
I was worried Shredder might have some of the same fragile joints that the foot soldier had, but he seems to be sturdier, which is good. Still wish they'd redesign the hip system though.
Dude I gotta say I always thought the shirtless shredder a little bit dumb since when I saw the original one back as a kid, but if I happen to get this one, I think maybe it'd be great to customize a cloth shirt or kimono for him, and the 2nd belt would be perfect to finish the look
Ah Dan, I was expecting you to have the original Playmates Super Shredder in that comparison pic too. As well as the cool First Gokin NT 02 Oraku Saki figure.
I don't collect this line, but I totally see why people would. If you want that old school figure feel with modern day paint jobs and possibility, these are great. I chose to stick with the NECA toon stuff. I did not realize, however, just how much my perception of Baxter Stockman was based on the playmates figure over the cartoon.
It is about time we got some good shredders. It's a shame they are all in this pricy collectors scale. I would love a 6" movie shredder to go with my 5" movie turtles
I assume the guy who made the original paint mask misinterpreted the sculpt. Then nobody caught it. Odd they didn't fix it at some point during the production run. I agree that it's a good joke, but maybe a waste.
