    This patch utilizes the VCAs to duck and shape audio. I even use a switch. Should be fun!
    ***I learned it is neither AM or FM synthesis when the LFO is in audio range while connected to the VCA CV pin, it is waveform modulation.
    If you found this helpful, any donation would be greatly appreciated!

    Awesome, another video from a master of the Pulsar-23! I'm still really dumb when it comes to patching this thing and get a lot out of watching your videos and the inspiration that comes from that. Thank you for sharing.

      @@S.r.wilson You are a master compared to me haha. I love the Lyra drones you have in the background as well, gives the Pulsar sounds a nice bed to play over. Also love the sporadic triplets you get on the HH module, lends some great variety to the pattern. The actual sound of the HH is lovely too with the modulation.
      I hope as you're making these patches you're recording the raw audio from the machine because you could easily use this in releases. :)
      Yes it's mental isn't it? Found the picture on 4Chan many, many years ago. XD

      I am certainly recording everything. These machines are so unpredictable I don't want to miss anything. Editing is not my strong suit so I am trying to get tracks from single takes, but thats tough. These videos will help me in the future when I start lutting a live set together.
      The Lyra/Pulsar combo has been in my head for two years. Plotting and planning what I wanted to do as I saved up cash.
      That is one hell of a rooster.

    Been really enjoying your videos, really in depth and creative use of the Pulsar! I'm not sure if you've been doing any multitrack of the instrument, Routing the outs through the 1/4 jacks. When doing so, it bypasses any of the FX which (in this great patch you put together) definitely has different outcomes with the reverb etc. With as advanced as you are with the machine, I bet you would really like the multitrack aspect and working with that as an added challenge. Really can't say enough how great your videos are and how the Pulsar community is thankful! Keep up the great work!

    • @S.r.wilson
      @S.r.wilson  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much! I am definitely going to venture into the multitracking aspect of the Pulsar. I have two channels running into my Octatrack and the main out is running directly into my audio interface. My A/I only has 6 inputs, so I try to make the most of it.
      Anything particular in regard to multitracking that you are curious about?

    • @cooperdeats406
      @cooperdeats406 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@S.r.wilson Totally understand! I was running all out into my interface until I got my hands on an ES9 and switched it up to multi-track which has been incredibly nice, I just hate how it bypasses the effects. I guess that would be the main thing on Multi-track is on how to get effects back on maybe a per track basis? I know you can do the REV or DLY out into the track out, but then the effect gets split into each voice...i.e. you can hear the BD delay on the HHT. I also wonder if maybe there is a way to use the 6 1/4 jack pins on the bottom left to separate combined clocks? Would be nice to have the ability to do a combined 16/4 clock, but then still be able to access a straight 16. I'm wondering if maybe do a 16 on the 1 pin, 4 on the 2 pin, then on the back route both the 1 and 2 with a 1/4 to 3.5 cables onto the top 3.5mm inputs and then use those as a combined out?

    Patch notation is a challenge LOL I like your idea of letters and numbers, even taking photos is not foolproof. i like how you got your LFO clock swinging in this patch. One of my fave things is adding little bursts of 32's to a 16s hat pattern, like u did here. Wuz cool how the HH/SN ended up sounding like someone shaking a box of matches near the end there... sweet! Subbed, nice!

    • @S.r.wilson
      @S.r.wilson  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! It does sound like that! In my head I called it the ticky woody sound. Matchbox is much cooler.
      I just cant believe how much vibiness the bursts on the HHT add when triggered by the bass env. That was a lot of fun.
      Have you done any modulation to the Shaos? That's kind of a blind spot for me right now. Might try to explore that this week.

      I still want to do more witj running external audio through. With this patch, you could run external audio to the vca cv pin and get that fm sound with the bass module. Might be interesting depwnding on the audio.

    Great patch! Really like your way of problem solving and how you work this out to your desired level. Really appreciate your walks and talks, really like how you talk about it. Super fun and cool. Found so many cool ideas thanks to you. Thanks a lot.
    One question is have about this path, and maybe about pulsar in general. Once i connect the trig converter into the bd, there is a dramatic decrease in db. even if i turn volume all way up, i miss the ability to make it louder. its basically ambient minimal in max volume if i need to compare to something. I was thinking maybe my power source doest deliver what this device wants. Just in case had a similar question in your mind, because i see that you operate with a great remainder capacity of volume on the bd.
    Thanks and keep grooving!

    • @S.r.wilson
      @S.r.wilson  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Very cool, thank you for this message.
      As for the BD volume, I would try different pitch, tune, and drive combos. I just reread the manual and was reminded that the drive shapes the waveform. "When rotated clockwise, the waveform changes from triangle to sine to square "
      Maybe this will bulk it up?
      I also saw a video with the artis Surgeon, and he said he connects the 10v to an attenuator and then to the Tune Mod. Could try that also. Or bd env to wtf or omg?
