Today is October 1st, 2023, the first time I saw the Dead Boys was October 1st, 1977. That's the date of the show you're talking about that was filmed, with the bologna etc. It was my first time at cbgbs too. Next morning I bought Young Loud and Snotty, played it nonstop and saw the Dead Boys at the Showplace in Dover NJ the following week, October 8th, 1977, when I first met Stiv. I had a lot of firsts with Stiv and we remained close till around 1980. Dead Boys changed the path of my life. Stiv offstage was one of the funniest kindest sweetest guy I ever met. I miss him, may he rest in peace knowing he's remembered by so many people 💔😎

@anndra1160 You know Stiv is in the vip section, he wasn't just an amazing singer, he was one of the kindest, sweetest gentlemen I ever knew. It's funny because October 29th 1977 was the first time I saw the Ramones and someone decided to take a picture of me watching the Ramones, you could see the Ramones from maybe thigh down. The photo wound up as a full page photo for an articles in the New York Rocker magazine about the NYC Punk scene! So many amazing times 😎
Thank you for sharing. I only recently discovered Stiv, his music, etc. He lived such a short but very full life. I’m sure you have so many great stories!
@willfade7994 what a nice comment to wake up to ♥️ in some ways I wish we had cell phones back then, I would've had so many great pictures lol But there's much to be said about living in the moment, so it's really cool when I find pictures of myself in videos etc. Stiv was the ultimate punk, but his solo stuff and the Lords of the New Church were just as good, the Lord's lyrics were ahead of their time. I'm running out of excuses, got a new laptop for Christmas, time to take my memories and get that book going! Have a wonderful new year, 2024 *has* to be better for everyone ♥️😎
Oh man, I’m so jealous. I swear I was born in the wrong era. I would’ve loved to have seen Dead Boys, but especially Lords. I first got privy to Stiv when I saw John Waters’ Polyester in high school. I’ve heard John say Stiv was a total gentleman whenever he’s talked about him before.

The Wanders album "Only Lovers Left Alive" is some of the best writing Stiv ever did. It's like he was watching the News today.
