    Absolutely correct...
    consciousness is all that exists. There's nothing to improve... there's nothing to fight against.
    The personality comes from lifetimes of human programming, but thoughts have no power. I can easily observe the old thought patterns but they no longer control my reality as a separate entity. Consciousness smiles and says silly thoughts let me get back to the present moment where I am is the truth.

I am always happy seeing videos like this, I was struggling at this point for so long until i was forced to see that the I is not an object but an abstraction, nothing to be eliminated, but something to realize. Many insecurities fall away but the most deep rooting seem to have an incredibly strong anchor , that have an amazing ability to take you away from your witness. Work in progress I guess. But realising the thoughts are just like watching a separate entity playing out is most joyful and powerful, having the ability to just let them pass by instead of becoming them, is a blessing. I guess I have to work on this.

    The ego can be defined as the mental patterns related to "the me". So the ego is real, yet it's interconnected within the wholeness of the universe. Consciousness is a state of being aware, a state that is off in dreamless sleep and on when dreaming and in the waking state. "The observer is the observed." J. Krishnamurti said, and that's accurate. The world of stuff and the observer (consciousness) are one.

    I've listened to such teachings for years now. I agree intellectually. There was a year or months or hours when I felt liberated by such ideas. But last year, in my 70s, I learned that I am autistic. I'm highly sensitive, also a birthright. Plus I have ADHD and CPTSD. Fine. I will deal with that and hold out the hope for an epiphany that overrides all that.
    Then last week I had a meltdown that had me unable to function and took days to recover from. Yet nobody would know that to look at me. This appears to be a self. WTF? Today I feel better. Maybe tomorrow I will meditate. But this is who/what I am. I may have even less control over that as I age. I'm human. Divine. But the human experience overrides the other. I'll pray in case someone can hear. In case prayer works. And look for the ultimate deliverance.

    • @GPWalsh
      @GPWalsh  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The non dual insights open the door to that great healing and deliverance. But when it opens, all sorts of deep wounds and traumas start coming to the surface. To cultivate loving awareness towards all of it, and thus to yourself, to me is the path.
      At least that is the path I am walking. Finding that ultimate deliverance in the midst of my human frailty.
      All my love to you Melissa

      @@GPWalsh Thats relative to the actual state of consciousness then ,not a blind believed state of consciousness that some have, based on someone else's ideas, what you want to be true may not be true at all to your level of consciousness, we have to be very careful, as you say, you cant put new wine into old wine skins, you may believe it will work but it wont.
      I understand the person, the ego is just an idea, I have no problem with that BUT the human life form surely will still suffer pain because of the nervous system, its the law of nature, example : did Jesus perceive the severe pain as being just one of those things, a fleeting dream when being crucified and laugh it off as some have suggested or was he in agony ? was the pain just an idea to his level of consciousness, was his nervous system turned off somehow ?

    • @GPWalsh
      @GPWalsh  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No I’ve never done EFT on it. EFT is always an assist to the nervous system to let go of the habitual patterns that make up the sense of a person. Remember, the person isn’t a reality. It is a mental projection on the sum total of the functioning of the individual nervous system. So anytime you alter that function, improve it, make it more functional, you have dismantled some of the sense of the person.

When some of the boundaries of our minds falls away we attribute experiences, that are out of the realm of our normal, to entities or beings of a different order. You are always experiencing the Self but interpreting from the standpoint of a person.

    Although awakening is uncaused it is happening by realising that we are not the story. That realisation may have different degrees of clarity. The process is therefore an increase in clarity about what we are not. It is not related to what we are.

    • @GPWalsh
      @GPWalsh  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is only a first step. Then the need is to examine what it is that lost its temper? What was the trigger that made that happen? This is not an excusing of bad or destructive behavior. This is a deep inquiry as to its cause. A cause understood allows for freedom from a mindless triggered response and the capacity to act consciously and fully. But we do have to see that it is a reactive pattern and not a character flaw.

    Hi GP Walsh, I need your advice. I've been watching too many non duality videos and it's really messing with my mind and making me behave in self destructive ways and it's confusing the hell out of me. I feel like my mind is all over the place and is really unstable. And it's making me have bad beliefs like "if I don't exist as a person and there's nothing I can do to get out of this illusion then what's the point of doing anything", "I have zero control and everything I do is happening on its own", "everything I know is just concepts and no one really knows anything"
    And I keep obsessing about non duality and just constantly watching my thoughts and confusing myself more. What should I do?

    • @GPWalsh
      @GPWalsh  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Drop all of you. non-dual knowledge. It is only creating suffering. If it isn't relieving suffering it isn't the real thing. Instead put your attention on your body. Just feel the presence of your body. It is a simple anchor point. Notice that you don't need any thoughts or concepts or words to experience feeling. So let your attention go there. You will find that the body is actually quite quiet and doesn't need the mind.
      There is no need to figure this all out. There is an element of grace. Oftentimes on this path people can feel isolated and having to do it all on their own. You don't have to figure anything out. As Rumi put it "The power that brought me here must bring me home." Just feel your body and forget about all these non-dual ideas. It will all come in time!
      Please keep me posted. I want to see you free of suffering.

    Seems the most efficient way to practice 'Non-duality' is to simply be non self competitive (not good enough, trying/seeking to fufill self expectations to meet the expectations of others, criticizing, blaming, coulda, woulda, shoulda, wondering why/if,.). To be self aware/accepting, and therefore accepting of all other lifes things/beings. to see the duality of life as bad/good, fear/courage, resistance/acceptance, comp/coop ,, all in balance. I am both. In the middle witout taking sides. Embracing both as pure energy to pro-actively respond cooperatively. Without blaming anything/one for a n y t h i n g ! Life is duality =s left -, right + and the singularity (binding energy of duality of which is the connection through/to the all one source field of consciousness (Yin/Yang)). To see alignment with all life guiding us in all that we are doing as meant to be done, at the time and manner meant. Trying to convince people they re not real, form doesn t exist, time doesn t exist etc, is only subconsciously negating. Timeless/time is. vibration (Om) is time, is distance, is expansion.

    Duality Vs. Non Duality - the Debate of Current Spiritual Seekers
    If you are reading this, take this into consideration! Through your observation, if you see a flaw in my understanding the please do point it out, I would appreciate hearing your own point of view! Thanks in advance.
    I cannot grasp why still, so many of us are still debating these two inherently non-dual yet still dualistic questions. This debate is fully paradoxical in its nature, they are opposite yet they are without a doubt connected and point in the same direction. How has no one realised this yet? Well, to put it simply, if you see truth in non-duality you are therefore using your ego. If non duality at its core is about abolishing the ego and experiencing that which connects all without egoistic bounds, then why even choose to be a part of this debate in the first place when it is ego driven? On the other hand, if you see truth in duality, you probably celebrate the ego and its key role in the self, human individuality and the variation in the universe/creation itself but you do not realise that it is this individuality which ultimately connects us all.
    Yes there are opposites to everything in nature but everything is inherently connected! Art can be defined as anything, whether directly related or not, it is still art. God/higher consciousness could be a separate entity but if all life and matter is seen as a manifestation of it, then still, everything is connected, all still has the same deep connection at a core level.
    Both of these are one in the same, existing within the same realm but are still opposite realities. My only answer to this is that there is no one or the other, it just is what it is.
    The time I experienced my higher self/god/universal consciousness, all aspects of my physical being were stripped away, the I which once was, was completely shattered and non existent. Time did not exist alongside this. There was only my true higher self/inner being and everything else around me. I was not it yet I saw myself in it and it within myself, an experience I cannot fathom in words. I was pure love and acceptance for all things and felt the love within all things but I still realised the difference and variance in all existence. I was only personality, a totally unique manifestation of something greater than me and I was different from it, yet I was experiencing it at the same time. At no point did I ever consider 'duality vs non-duality?' as even being possible. I just was, the thought of who I was did not ever occur to me as I was purely experiencing a unique expression (like art) and that was just, me. The same went for everything in existence.
    In some respects, though not relevant to everything, is by even questioning or breaking down what is instead of simply observing, is what prevents that which is from simply being. Think about that.
    This experience is still incomprehensible to me right now as I am not experiencing it, I can only draw from my reference to it as an observation in order to try and paint a picture for you. We do not have the ability to fully comprehend anything which is greater than us at this moment in time, after all we are still here confined as a human being. It is important to remember this. We need to achieve a level of respect, acceptance and love for all differences in existence and be able to see the yin and yang in all views and angles of perception by bringing them together to form one uniform understanding. Then there would be no need to have such trivial debates such as this.
    - Bliss.

    Why is “I” an abstraction, and not a totality of all the smaller parts? By changing the “I”, it changes the neural network, which is the sense of “I”. What are you awakening or enlightening if not the “I”.
    What is the awakening or enlightening? What is the heart, if not just as you say the rest of the body is, namely cells/atoms?
    What IS consciousness? You seem to imply it is something other than both self and the physical world.
    Plenty of things exist where one person perceives it or not. Can’t others perceive it, thus making it exist whether you are there to perceive it?

      You didn't miss anything. It isn't a process, but appears to be one. When awakening happens it is not the result of any process or practice. It is a spontaneous event. But, so are all the practices and processes. Discover that there is no one who is awakening and no one who has gone through any process and you will grasp the secret. Then awakening is simply a cosmic event that appears in the dream.

    Also, is there a God? Is God a part of Vedanta? Do I need a Guru? Is TH-cam my Guru?

      For the most part people do need a teacher. We need some guidance otherwise there is a tendency to take non-dual teaching and interpret it from our existing conceptual framework. It is radically different from that.
      If by God you mean a personal being that created a universe separate from Itself then no there isn't. If you mean God as the all pervasive, formless intelligence that is immanent in and one with the universe then yes there is.
      Vedanta is simply a tool for self-inquiry to bring our assumptions under the microscope of scrutiny and liberate us from the ignorance and misunderstanding that is causing so much suffering.

    If you state that Awakening doesn't follow a process, then does that discount the value in engaging in the practice of self inquiry? Or maybe one engages in the self inquiry and after a period of time, this facilitates the Awakening by making it all the more likely?

      That is a very good point. And, it does seem like we are following a path. It is necessary to understand though that awakening is not the result of anything. if it is then it too is temporary. Absolute consciousness experiences no awakening. The human being comes to a point of recognition of the true consciousness. The coming to that point is a process. So your point is well taken and helps clarify all this without getting caught up in on-dual speak but still recognizing the nature of the absolute.

    since i am not the body mind or ego etc; i am only awareness; only the perceiver, then who or what is it that craves? does ALL THAT IS crave? is it ultimately Brhamaan that craves? no one is actually their body, mind, intelligence, ego etc yet so much craving is done by everyone. surely all this craving which causes all suffering is not a nothing that is done by no one...

      When craving (all desire) is traced back to its origin, can you find someone there who is doing the craving or is there just a feeling? Without a person to say, this is my craving, I need to fulfill it, I need to make it happen, it would just be a sensation arising in experience.
      But note, the craving or desire arises first and then something else arises that interprets and lays claim to it.
      ALL THAT IS, craves nothing because it is all that is. But all that is is expressed in the arising of desire and fulfillment. This is nothing but the experience of joy unless a sense of lack (based on an erroneous sense of being a person) is there to claim ownership and responsibility.
      Inquire deeply into the reality of the one claiming ownership and this mystery will be cleared up.
      And thank you for a wonderful question!

    “I” is the “not you” (but me) that refers to my power/potential under my control. From this POV it is not “nothing”... but a (somewhat) useful construct if directed to serve holistically... there may be good tips to self-improve if it serve this growth, even if not enlightenment teachings for adepts.
    Krishna says - recognise me as the doer...hehe.

      For something to be under you control it must first exist independently of you. As a construct it is useful but there is no person and there is no "me". This "no me" is Krishna
