Very well said, Don!! Don Williams is a true legend, song writer and an all time great guy who has always just "Been Himself in his music career"! Rest in peace, Mr. Don Williams! I love this song and he is "The Gentle Giant"!!
Check out "Good Ole Boys Like Me" by Don Williams. It shows the philosophical side of him, wrapped up in a very comfortable melody. Something about his voice makes you feel like everything is ok while you're listening to him, even if it isn't.
LOL!! So funny that you mention that, as it didn't dawn on me until after I posted the video that he has the same first name as me. The dude is just so good, so in a league of his own, that I didn't make the connection. Let us pray....
i got to see don williams and the oak ridge boys on our high school football field back in 77 or thereabouts when i was 8 or thereabouts. only took me 30 years or so before i appreciated how good it was.
He had one of the Smoothest ,Pure Voices in Country Music .Almost a Jim Reeves like voice . Great Song and Delivery. This Man is a True Xountry Artist !❤❤❤❤
He has such a comforting voice. You'd probably like Tom T Hall also. They have a very similar sound and style. Check out "Children, Old Dogs, and Watermelon Wine"
One of the best song written and sang....and this is also one of the best reaction to don williams song....i love how you talked about how you feel....
@kazekho Sankhil I'm glad you enjoyed it and that you like this kind of music so much---Don Williams is so real it's ridiculous. Thank you for the kind words, and welcome to the channel!!
Thank you. I admire today’s artist that say these guys inspired them. Keith Urban always gives the same answer...Don Williams and Glen Campbell. Don never had a bad song. My favorite...Lord, I hope this day is good. Reactors are blowing-up with Stapleton’s Amanda...it can’t touch Don’s original recording.
Great videos man. My dad died when I was 16 I'm 24 now with two kids of my own. I listen to this song to fill the void of my father's missing support. He was a great dad and loved and supported his 4 children and believed in us all. It just helps to hear an old man who somewhat sounds like my dad to tell me he believes in me. I think this song is great because Don was speaking directly to every person who would ever hear this song and it is so easy for his song to become personal to each one of us.
I really like Don William's! His voice & his sound is very comforting to me. It takes me back to when I was just a little boy with my Dad. Hard to explain, I just like it.
Truly appreciate your heartfelt commentary, Sir. Included this song on a gift cassette tape (shows you how long ago I did the tape!) for my fiance around 1986; she still has the tape (believe I also had Don's "You're My Best Friend" on the tape).
Glad you feel the same way I do about the song, CTC! I mean, how could anyone improve upon that, right? Gives me so much to think about. And as an aside, if anyone wanted to know the difference between traditional country and pop country, I would have them listen to Florida Georgia Line first, and then this song by Don Williams. That would pretty much cover it.
Country-Western songsters once-in-a-while come in from the hard-scrabble, dusty fields and get to relax in the comfort of their ranch house, cabin, home -- with those who complete their existence, their lives -- those who they love.
Don ( THE GENTLE GIANT) of country music is a 1 of a kind legand. My momma all time favorite. I have to say a good choice Don. Some of his other greats Lord, I hope this day is good- Tulsa Time- Heart beat in the darkness- His last recording was imagine that with Keith Urban a 1 take acoustic recording. He spent his retirement years in Alabama
This song has always been one of my favorites....a song that doesn't yell at you but that is extremely powerful is "Feed Jake" by Pirates of the Mississippi
Very nice, love don willams. Has many great songs. Like Tulsa time, broken hearts never mend, to be ur man and lots more. Please check out more don Williams
You're welcome, Lynnette. And I'm so sorry on you losing your husband. Life moves on, but it's oh so different. Since he liked Don Williams, your husband no doubt had a good heart. :-)
I'm one of those that was raised on don Williams's soft voice, my dad had multiple cassette tapes in he's semi, and every time I here don Williams, i'm taken back to the time me and my dad had back then ,there's so many great tunes I could pick out but songs like Maggie's dream and good old boys like me are just beautiful, but the most touching song he did In my humble opinion ,is "broken heartland" that's just tells a story that is a reality as much today that it was back when it was recorded
Oh, I love the Gentle Giant. You can play any of these songs anytime: It Must Be Love Rake And Rambling Man You're My Best Friend Say It Again She Never Knew Me Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good Give It To Me You've Got A Hold On Me
This is probably my favorite Don Williams song. His live performance here sounds almost exactly like the recorded version. That's impressive in itself. One of my favorite Underdog Artists Marty Brown idolized Don Williams. Infact, the little hat he wears is in honor of Don (my dad's first name by the way). Williams had a great voice, and so does Marty. Check out his song that on title alone should be intriguing enough "You Can't Wrap Your Arms Around A Memory". Marty is as Country as it gets.
Always like Don W - great song but he always sings great lyrics - followed him for a long time now - liked what you said and tell me this pal - what does Persay mean? you say this word a lot -perhaps I asked you this before!!! I liked the way Don W did Amanda - he put his own touch to it - gosh , I did not know he was dead -where have I been> Ihave lots of his music so will treasure it - thanks for this one Don xx just the other day I heard Chris Stapleton singing Amanda and it was good but so different to DW s version - xxx
LOL about the language barrier, C-Mac!! It's a Latin word (technically it's a phrase, I suppose) that we've imported into English---it's "per se," and means something along the lines of "all by itself," or "an intrinsic quality." The French have an expression that may be similar that we all also use in speech here, and it's "je nais se quoi," which means a certain indefinable quality of a thing, but one that you recognize when you see it. I hope this helps more than confuses!!
@John Williams Amen, brother--I thought the same thing! But it's possible that they liked the song but they didn't like me or my style. Some folks don't like interruptions in the songs, which is weird because that's primarily what reactions are. Nonetheless, Don Williams was such an amazing talent.
@@RockN2Country I enjoy your responses I like you do not just listen to the instrumental part of a song like some do but also what the entertainer is saying to us in his song.
Floy-day-ta... Close to my home town. Got to see Don when he came through town. Very cool guy. Not one to mince words on stage, but man could he write, sing, and play! Big thanks to my grandpa for introducing him to me at a young age.
He does a chat with kieth urban and met him Once and said he is deeply religious and his songs reflect his belief in god country church and family. A real southern gentleman type very similar to Ricky Skaggs
Great song, great reaction. This is what America needs today. Familys need to sit down and eat dinner together, talk, and share. Family is everything. With both parents working, we have lost this. This will be our downfall. One last thing, Trump won.

This song is so needed these days. God bless Don Williams. R.I.P.
Check out "Good Ole Boys Like Me" by Don Williams. It shows the philosophical side of him, wrapped up in a very comfortable melody. Something about his voice makes you feel like everything is ok while you're listening to him, even if it isn't.
I have nothing to add :-( ...A legendary song by a legendary man!
The Don and Don show... I'm a fan of "If Hollywood Don't Need You" and "Good Ole Boys Like Me" those are my faves of Mr. Williams.

I can totally see that. I think I experience some of that comfort, too, even as an adult.

💖💖 The lyrics 💖💖 The laid back chill of the man 💖💖 and above all the sheer beauty and resonance of that voice!💖💖
Don Williams is pure gold!
This is a top 10 all time country song! Great writing, great performance and what a message. Thanks Don I haven't heard this in a while.

Such a mellow voice. I really miss his meaningful kind of songs.

My all time favorite male country voice. Saw him live many times, through the years. Definitely an unmistakable voice.
Those must have been wonderful evenings, Tom. I can imagine the rides home being filled with quiet satisfaction in some way.
@@RockN2Country Don did the "George Strait thing" long before George. He stood there (or sat in his chair) and sang. Miss him greatly.
I was raised on this music, it does not get old it's just plain the way it was and is.
Back in the 60s - 70s my mom listened to Don Williams, Charlie pride, Charlie Rich etc.
Love Love Don, he is like a good cup of tea, so soothing to listen to. Thank you Don for doing this one. A favorite of mine.
My daddy used to play Don Williams in the car. RIP daddy and RIP Don Williams.
Mine too..learned to dance standing on his boots! ❤🥹
Waaaaw me encantan estos videos❤👍
Muy hermosa cancion I believe and you. Oh Dios que cancion que hermosa !
I'm not a country music fan, but Don Williams has always been cool to me. Great voice, no pretense. Thanx ma.
Waco Texas . ..Love the Old School Truth
I love his music. It amazes me how he could perform as he did, being that he suffered from severe back pain his adult life.
The Gentle Giant best live show I ever saw hands down. Any genre
This song is as relevant today as was in 1980! God bless you Don Williams! 2020
My late Dad loved Don he was hugely popular here in the UK in the 1970/80s
I love his music plus my late father was also named Don Williams.
I love Don Williams and i love this song!!!
off the charts...
This just took me back. Holy shit. Great tune. Thanks
Agree not every song needs to be in your face. Simple can be wonderful.
danndy don is one of my fav's!!!!!!

My husband loved Don Williams. This was "our song". Lost my love of 32 years in May 2012. Thank you for the memory.
You're welcome, Lynnette. And I'm so sorry on you losing your husband. Life moves on, but it's oh so different. Since he liked Don Williams, your husband no doubt had a good heart. :-)
If your looking for something to believe in listen to Tom T. Hall - Faster Horses.
Tom T. From Pedro Ohio, I like "That's How I Got to Memphis" "Clayton Delaney" both great Tom T Hall tunes.
This song will never be untrue. It will always speak to me and allows you to just stop and breath.
I love Don Williams music.. He has such a soothing tone.. This is a song you can relax to it... Thanks for the reaction.

On his next to the last album he did a song called Infinity. It’s one of his best.

I'm sure I heard he was Ken to Hank Sr., Hank Jr. And Tennessee Williams...nice review...
Maybe check out (what do you do with good ol' boys like me), Don Williams...sure you will like it...
Check out Tony Jackson singing the grand tour. A George Jones song. It is good. Thanks ALAN HICKS
Could you review Merle Haggard's Me and crippled soldiers.
Another good one

Get out of my head, Don! LOL! I've loved this song since I was a kid. Of course, I appreciate the lyrics more now. Great song choice.
You are so funny (and kind), Carla!!! This is one heckuva song, and it keeps getting better with age.
Down to earth no glitz no sequin suits not concerned about how many albums he'll sell during his career, just played his music and spoke the truth.
Love is a fallacy it does not exist
I love the reactions to the old school country. You should check out Earl Thomas Conley.
I have a kind of connection to his name as Don Williams was my late fathers name.
@John Williams Well that will definitely make a connection, that's for sure. And I'm sorry on the loss of your father. Keep the faith, man!

This gentleman is correct. The first “a” is pronounced with a long a sound.
I grew up in Loop Texas. Most people haven't ever heard of it. You may have being from Childress.

I’m in Lubbock now which isn’t too far from Loop.
Small world. I know of Guthrie. Did you grow up on the 4 sixes ranch?
I will bet 99percent of people who read this will never have heard of 6 man football. In West Texas however it is quite a sport.
