Back in the 70s, in Laos, it was a hard, a very trying time. Power and control was ever present and abused. And, it bled to all parts of the culture. It's better now, here in the US.
Love is a choice. And, when you see it, it makes sense, and all come to light. Time, tragedy, sickness doesn't matter, it'll put them in their places. It will churn the essence good in the darkest places. It is the one that life yearns for.
I don't know about it being better here in the United States. Seems to me these folks are still living the old ways and haven't changed their views much. The difference is that the younger generations are no longer stupid or dumb and diffinately not ignorant anymore and they're more Americanized to put up with the bullshits. Hmong women are slowly and gradually coming around to see their worth and values and not much caring for the old ways of how the Hmong men and their parents and elders treat their wive's. We are the new improved 21st century Hmong women. We can stand on our own two feet, we can achieve merits and goals, we hold high political positions, we're gold medalist, we're doctors, lawyers, business owners, teachers, above all we're survivors and we're only just starting. We're achieving greatness everyday. We live in the number one country, the great country that give us all equal rights and voices. WE CAN LIVE AND SURVIVE WITHOUT A MAN.
