God, I hope that's NOT the orchestration they are using!!!!
That original 1984 recording is the ONLY soundtrack release that sounds good! The rest are either too cartoony, too overproduced, too fluffy, too "fake" instrument oriented (IE too much MIDI/keyboard simulation of various instruments) & just plain old copycat attempts if whatever now dated musical trends that were popular at the time of the recording!
Praying they go back to that darker, edgier, louder, more mechanical, less poppy sound of the show when it first opened!!!
The surreal feel of the original just gave the show that truly dreamlike and kinda hair tingling feel!
And it was LOUD, just as it should be!
Narrator: The actual orchestration was even worse.

You’re statement remains half correct. I’ll give you a reason why with a question.

And even when it would be a flop in London (what I don’t believe) then it stays in Germany as a only in Germany thing like it did all this years. It extremely well visited every show! They have just two days a week without any show and on 3 days two shows and on 2 just one. Without any kind of break over all this years.
I’m sure ALW gets his money for this musical, with or without any other country in it.
It's either gonna be mind-blowing like the original darker version I saw as a kid (BEFORE they started dicking around with it to be something anyone could digest and with 'all the latest trends' in music)
OR it's gonna be a quick, rather messy derailment, that will most likely be reconfigured to "the train set's original track plan layout," (ie a recreation of the original) which is what fans have been begging for since at least the mid 90s, when the show metaphorically followed the "star wars free fall!"
Let's just hope the 92 StEx version was the JJ Abrams sequels and the 2024 stex will be the Favreau/Filoni rebound with the Mandalorian!

I’m Seeing it next week. Got really mixed feelings about It. I loved the old/original London production and have seen the German version too. Seems such a shame they dropped some characters and the old costumes. I can’t help it but I think I’m going to be disappointed and overly critical.
