I always enjoy quills city builder videos up until expansion makes everything messy. I wish these game would do something so you don't feel like you're throwing resources out the window when you want to reorganise your layout a bit.
For some reason this 4 year old video I've already seen showed up in my 'up next' after watching his latest Slay the Spire vid, but I have to say this series was entertaining as hell and I wouldn't be offended if he brought it back. Something about Tropico always brings me back.
Putting houses and a clinic near a mine? Excellent! They'll get sick from the mine's pollution and head right to the clinic for healthcare! So much money will be made! Wait... They don't pay for healthcare?
Quill, really appreciate your vids. You've reawakened my love of gaming from 20 yrs ago and since I've been gone for so long, everything is new and awesome and better graphics than Super nintendo. LOL Cheers!!!!! Also, is it a thing to stay under mandate for the whole game or is revolution pretty much a mandatory part
The only problem I have with this game (so far) is that when quill gets to the first world war, the game has Germany/Austria-Hungary called the Axis, but in World War 1 Germany was part of the Central Powers. The Axis Powers were WW2
Quill there is a new dept system in place and you can get money through it. It causes more expenses because of the percentage rate. You'll get this dept when you choose to buy your way to freedom.
I am having an issue here quill, I am between love and hate with you... I just just finished watching part 1 as my study break and now this. Sorry Chemestry exam
I think that with taverns it works like plantations and ranches in that putting them in green areas is better than yellow or red. Unlike police stations or water treatment plants.
Heh. My income is extremely clumpy. I have to assume that the "build more docks" thing was scaled back a bit for the real release, because I've never had more than two docks, and never been exhorted to expand past that. In my current totalitarian game, I've got one dock, but over 20,000 in profits every time a ship pulls in. Sooner or later, I'll get around to building a power plant and I'll add a cannery. I'll also get around to exploiting the gold mine right on the edge of my territory. (Jewelry factory just got unlocked.) But clumpy income.
It's good you have high approval, but you'll probably want a few more guard towers to guard your industry. One revolt and you could be rebuilding some expensive buildings.
Btw dropping the tavern In a yellow area will decrease the profit you get from the tavern because a yellow area means less Beauty and to increase the beauty in that area you have to build some parks around and quiet a lot of them, I'm enjoying your videos and I'm watching the series to see if you're gonna run in the same problem I ran into and that is when I get to modern times people don't want to work in industrial buildings anymore even if I paid them the max I can and appointed a union leader as a manager I invite foreign workers and then they quit in about 2 month, you have any idea why?
That 10k, It's a bond issue. You have an interest rate that you have to pay that drains your economy until you pass the edict to buy back the bond issue.
Is this alot different then Tropico 4? When i played Tropico 4, you had to place houses close to their work spots or they will build shacks next to the place they work
Yes indeed. I believe you have to build the Bank building in order to see your debt and credit rating, and to repay your loan. (edit: actually you can manage it via the corresponding edict in the WW era)
Quill actually just overlooked his solution: Just click the thumbs-down symbol of "buy debt" and he would've solved his own problem of losing $1k a year.
Abde Ssamad Ajdax Perhaps Tropicans were once part of a highly advanced civilization that could do all sorts of fancy stuff. Until they discovered rum. . .
This game seems like it goes waaayyy to fast. I mean with only 160ish people you can declare independence? Also the player barely uses 1/50th of the the island and they just shove you into the World War era. Is this just because he's playing in sandbox mode?
It always amazes me how much misinformation you manage to spread everytime you try to play a game you think you understand. First, no. As you can clearly see, the star doesn't indicate an upgrade as you haven't upgraded your guard towers in colonial times, yet they still have a star. The star indicates that the building is functioning. Secondly, no. You have already forgotten that ten minutes ago you assigned a mentor to your pig farm, hence the mentor effect on the tavern. It's not a "global" effect from either of your rulers, especially obvious since you only get one global effect at a time and you blew yours on +$4k starting money, rather than +10% foreign aid. Third, yes. You DO in fact get $20k in debt. You need to buy it back, with interest on the edicts screen under the world wars tab. It's like $1k+ a year, so yeah, you probably never will, but you might wanna take care of that. We're currently 4:45 seconds in, and you have said more stuff that's wrong than stuff that's right. Par for the course. This is almost as bad as your train wreck KSP series. Might do you some good to wait a bit before jumping on +$100 per thousand units on cotton, and actually get a good grade route. They reset every month, something you obviously are unaware of. Again, the $20k debt is not glitched, you have no idea what you're talking about (as usual). Maybe one day you'll see it, and figure it out. *EDIT:* Blows my mind that you finally figured out that the debt is a thing... shame you have no idea where to pay it off, but admitting you were completely wrong is a BIG step in the right direction. If only you knew how much OTHER stuff you're always wrong about. Your biggest failing as a teacher is that you THINK you understand things, so you never bother to look them up. As a result, you "teach" people the same errors that you don't even know you're making. *EDIT2:* Well, after seven hours in the game, you managed to find the sovereign debt tab. I'm impressed.
Can't get enough of this game, was just watching the last part hoping there would be a second part out and bam there it was, made my day.
12:45 - Quill, you've taken a bond. You need to repay it to your former masters eventually, and incur interests till then.
In my opinion Tropico 5 is the most interesting series that quil18 has ever done
Uh, congrats?
I always enjoy quills city builder videos up until expansion makes everything messy. I wish these game would do something so you don't feel like you're throwing resources out the window when you want to reorganise your layout a bit.
That's real life for you,lol!
Just finished watching the part 1! Amazing timing on your part Quill!
I got to say I like to see you play these game Quill you seem to have a flair for the aestethics that other let's play misses out on.
For some reason this 4 year old video I've already seen showed up in my 'up next' after watching his latest Slay the Spire vid, but I have to say this series was entertaining as hell and I wouldn't be offended if he brought it back. Something about Tropico always brings me back.

its manadtory at some point.
upgrade the logging camps to reforesting
Anyone else bothered by the fact 1910's Germany flag has Werhmect flag instead of the German Empire flag
yup
I’m bothered by the fact you said it was the ‘Wehrmacht’ flag.
Edit: werhmect
The radio is one of the mayor perks of playing this.
The only problem I have with this game (so far) is that when quill gets to the first world war, the game has Germany/Austria-Hungary called the Axis, but in World War 1 Germany was part of the Central Powers. The Axis Powers were WW2
If thats your only problem this must be the greatest game ever to you.
Quill there is a new dept system in place and you can get money through it. It causes more expenses because of the percentage rate. You'll get this dept when you choose to buy your way to freedom.
I might have to dig up Tropico 4 for a couple hours.
I am having an issue here quill, I am between love and hate with you... I just just finished watching part 1 as my study break and now this. Sorry Chemestry exam

I love tropico 5 but I can never play it so I watch quill

I think that with taverns it works like plantations and ranches in that putting them in green areas is better than yellow or red. Unlike police stations or water treatment plants.
Ram those bears, mate. Eff knows we need to.
More Tropico.Sweet.

Quill! You forgot to get the upgrade for the Missions.
March 1916. Ireland declares it's independence from the UK. Meanwhile, Quill considers the wisdom of rushing churches. :p
It's good you have high approval, but you'll probably want a few more guard towers to guard your industry. One revolt and you could be rebuilding some expensive buildings.
Btw, Venenum means poison in Latin
Look at your bonds, bro. You are indeed ten grand in debt.
So many videos today! Yay :D
Damn it. Time for me to buy TROPICO 5!!!!!!!
thanks for the series man! realy!
Game seems to look better.
You forgot the reforesting upgrades, do them before you run out of trees :)
27 minutes in, I'm screaming "INDUSTRY!" It's really the only way to make decent money.
classic quill, messes up his estimate and has to revise it multiple times with his mandate.
That 10k, It's a bond issue. You have an interest rate that you have to pay that drains your economy until you pass the edict to buy back the bond issue.
Hey Quill, i love your gameplays, can´t wait for Trópico 5, trópico 4 is bugged sometimes.
Is this alot different then Tropico 4?
When i played Tropico 4, you had to place houses close to their work spots or they will build shacks next to the place they work
lol you go into debt your like "oh well" when i go into debt im like "oh shit stop everything (prays for a ship to come fast)"
Wouldn't it make sense to increase the budget of every building before building new buildings of the same type?
the 23rd of may can´t come fast enough.
you have to repay a loan, which is 10.000, otherwise you have to pay interest.
Did he active reforestation? So taht his forests don't run out?
MORE PRISON ARCHITECT PLEASE!
Because of the dynasty feature, does this gamer last longer now? I loved Tropico 4 but it didn't last long enough.
Will you get the new civ game to?
How does one get a paper cut while attempting to invent paper, because in theory how can you get a cut from something that doesn't exist?
Tropicans.... that is all.
well how could they have houses without knowing planks and how could they get ships and a PALACE and that fort without knowing basic stuff.
Abde Ssamad Ajdax Perhaps Tropicans were once part of a highly advanced civilization that could do all sorts of fancy stuff. Until they discovered rum. . .
You have to pay the debt in the ethics
MORE !!!!!!!
goin in debt means you pay yearly fines for your debt
Phew. Cutting it kind of close on the independence there right? Two months is not a lot.
Payoff the Sovereign Debt From your Edicts
Quill you seem to have a problem about city planing. It would help you if you made a town centre and not such a decentralised island.
Quill, you sound hungry man.
sovreign debt is in your edicts
God those roads made my OCD cringe
cant wait 1 more day woohoo
why does the video look so blurry even though I watch it in 1080p?
Debt just adds money to sovereign debt
MOAR
Slum lord no more!
The debt will be in sovereign debts
was i the only one who put in tropico Music i the background?
Still can't tell what faction that chaos chick belongs to.

5:24 someone is hungry?
24:34 ...... OCD TRIGGERED!!!!!
This game seems like it goes waaayyy to fast. I mean with only 160ish people you can declare independence? Also the player barely uses 1/50th of the the island and they just shove you into the World War era. Is this just because he's playing in sandbox mode?
So, uhm, Quill, I think you could just have banished 1 or 2 royalists to get the popular support, instead of losing so much money.
el predente
this is 1914!?
Did you read 1984, because you use some of the newspeak in it.
DOES ANYONE EBER FIGHT THE BRITISH.
zoom in every now and then plz
where's the music?
Quill turns off the music because the music can trigger TH-cam Content ID matches, which are a big pain to deal with.
"More voters, based on crazy liberal ideals" lol
ohhhh :( why did you paid is not that enterteiming :(
You ended in October 1917, the month of the grand Communist revolution in Russia.
