    This is great. This is of course what Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh teaches with “Engaged Buddhist Practice” - not a religious dogma, but an invitation to place our full attention on what we are doing and the sensory experiences in the here and now. Practicing this way for years has brought me great freedom and allows me to see clearly when I’m being pulled back into negative thought patterns. Thank you, Doctor Rami for sharing a very clear explanation of how to bring more mindfulness into daily life. I love your channel ❤🙏😊

    Thanks for this. My anxiety is ruling my life and affecting my concentration, which makes me even more anxious. Yesterday, I was washing the dishes and didn't realise until later that I'd forgotten to wash a dinner plate (when I went to wash some coffee cups last night). I've washed up thousands of times, so it worried me that I'd forgotten the plate, which caused me to feel anxious! I'm really going to try to concentrate when I wash them later. Thanks.

    I would be anxious constantly over a few medical conditions I had and have. Mindfulness helped a lot. Books like "30 Days to Reduce Stress" by Harper Daniels and journaling and even the Tao Te Ching have helped me detach a little bit from the conditions and enjoy the present moment.

    I have started using your videos, within my peer specialist role, with some of my clients to great response and plan to make them a go-to tool in my toolbox, lately introducing the concepts behind health anxiety to someone who suffers from it, it has helped them turn the corner into self-awareness. Keep them coming, you have a way that is concise, honest, caring and cuts to the point.

    Thank you. For me, a HA-induced negative thought (usually after googling) can literally be the trigger to a new episode of depression. So even though "logically" I am 99.9% sure I'm OK, I'm now stuck inside depression and/or severe anxiety that has a life of it own. With the initial googling and HA bad thoughts etc. it's almost like I am pre-disposed or hardwired to fall into depression from it, so prone to that kind of negative confirmation bias. Like a switch that goes off. If there is a way to distract myself, I would need to do this almost instantly, because I feel like I'm just so vulnerable to that switch going off. :(

    Thanks Dr Nader, I like how you integrate mindfulness practices in a practical way. I wonder for myself that having too much "idle time" lately makes the rumination on HA and associated issues worse, or potentially so.

      Same here. I had an echo and stress test done two years ago but still worry. I workout alot and have some trap muscle tightness which has caused neck, shoulder and chest pain. Sometimes I will get sharp shooting pains on my left side and other times it lingers. I continue to go down the rabbit hole thinking I am going to drop dead from a heart issue.

    If ERP says that you should avoid distraction, how does this differ from distraction?

    • @instant_mint
      @instant_mint 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Distraction would be to put on a podcast while washing dishes because you feel like you don't want to be alone with your mind for a second

    Many of the things you talk about are things I recognize from metacognitive therapy. Is that something you have studied or have experience with? 🙂

    • @DrRamiNader
      @DrRamiNader  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have discussed a variety of metacognitive techniques in other videos about OCD and generalized anxiety disorder, in discussing challenging appraisals and beliefs about the usefulness of worry.

    • @instant_mint
      @instant_mint 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DrRamiNader yes, it sounded like familiar concepts to me who have done MCT, and I think this approach is the most successful! 👍 Because these beliefs about the usefulness of worry etc, are the driving force in compulsive behavior/worrying. Great stuff on this channel
