ye Carter family what would country be without them , not much i am not very old i grew up with Carlen Carter but sence a cuple yrs back i started listing to whole family and what can i say , the only person i get that feeling in my heart from as when that family sings. Is prb Dolly Parton, must be some magic in the water up in the appalachian Mountain . becueas i never herd ppl singing with that much love and care and feeling ofc., i can just listen over and over again to there songs Bless you all xx
Wonderful. Just makes me smile-and smile even more. Too bad music is not like this now. We'll never have this again. Thank God for TH-cam ( so many older singers one can find as well ) Thanks for this post, know it's been on awhile I come back to listen and enjoy often.
Edited though it may be, I've always preferred the version on Johnny Cash at Madison Square Garden, but then if Anita's singing on anything, it can't be bad can it?
My favorite would be Burl Ives' version, love the guitar at the very beginning and sort of more empty, sad atmosphere in general. And there's also Stanley Brothers live version, beautiful.
Saludos
I could not have put it better if I'd spent a week trying to come up with a line roman. Simply the most stunning female voice I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.
Yes, that's Anita (the only one not playing a guitar). You might like to search for one of my favourite performances by her here on youtube - Anita Carter - Loving Him Was Easy (Johnny Cash Show) 1972.
the best of the carters? she was the best of all time all country singers male or female you really cant tell from this vid but look up her solo work and prepare to have your mind blown
This is so great....Helen playing her mom's guitar style. Each sister gets a verse including dear Anita. Is that Carlene's voice way up top? At first I thought it was Anita.
@dodge93city Sad, Anita was already ill by the time of this taping. You can see how puffy her face was from the prednizone treatments. Her rheumatoid condition got so bad that not much later, June & Johnny took her into their home where she needed 'round-the-clock care until she passed on. The same thing killed my dad.
Great foot tapping gutsy performance AND BY WOMEN ON GUITARS. I currently folk sing round the various circuits and guitar players are predominantly all male.
Helen got hotter and hotter the older she got, and June was really talented, she can play guitar and auto harp really good but was overshadowed by Maybelle and Helen because they were pretty special at picking
As June said Scottish /Irish lyrics words all rolled into one humbly song they were all immigrants to the USA. Good old folk music can't beat it better than that money making manufactured carbage of today don't need talent just some one with a finger in the music industry pie. that wants to make even more money out of one hit wonders.. With there voice correcting machines when they sing oot of tune. Yeh and that's talent.. At least when Hugh green had and hosted opertunity knocks the original talent show the people on the show were talented lol 👍🍺🏴
Looks like Somebody"s doin' Maybelle's pickin style on her guitar, I could be wrong. I am 67 and they say there's a first time for everything. (That's right.Right?)
Carlene is the daugther of June Carter (Cash) and Carl Smith, and stepdaughter of Johnny, granddaughter of Mother Maybelle, niece of June's sisters. She was once married to Brit rocker, Nick Lowe.
Scots Irish, North England folk music. Hillbillies and BillyBoys supported Prince William, Billy Boy, of Orange the Orange Parade and why places like Orange County New Jersey. Battle of Monmouth New Jersey fought near Rhea family farm. Mathew the Rebel Rhea on losing side of Monmouth, Pitchfork Rebellion in Britain, Rhea County Tennessee, etcetera. American Revolution a family feud going back to English Scottish Civil Wars and Rebellions along with American Civil War known as The Cousins Wars, book can't remember author. Brother against brother cousin against cousin since beginning of time. Supposed ancestor burned alive at the stake by King James the Fifth? Grandfather? of King James the Sixth and First of England of the King James Bible, irony. the Family Bible. So on and so forth.
Awesome greatest ever nobody can replace great country music 🎶🎵 at its best

THAT's REAL MUSIC!! They all have great voices!
I love this music. Got my day off to a super duper start. Love the Carter girls.
Truly, country music royalty!
Even at this late stage in her career, Anita's soprano still soars.
Love these collective of beautiful talented voices
Blessed by God Almighty
It's so fun to watch the Carter Sisters perform!
How lovely blending of voices the Carter have! It's Amazing!
My love to June in heaven! You were a true angel and endured to the very end! Good hearted christian lady.
You said it. But who was that douchebag who spoke in the beginning?
Just coming across this. Fantastic play by all the Carter girls. MISS ANITA..!!! WOW, !!
Absolutely...Helen plays in her Mom's revolutionary (at the time) style.
Helen also sings a lot like their Mom.
Anita sings like an angel.
Si la voz de Anita es absolutamente una brutalidad. Sus agudos de joven son excelentes y de mayor tenía unos graves agudos muy buenos.
Anita stands out the most. What a voice!
I truly love Anita voice and I believe she is now with the Angels Choir..up above.
Such. A beautiful voice.
Wonderful. Just makes me smile-and smile even more. Too bad music is not like this now.
We'll never have this again. Thank God for TH-cam ( so many older singers one can find as well )

My Daddy was the fireman on a sream powered train. I loved to hear these ladies sing about it.
The absolute best version of this song...Anita soars above them all....luv it!!!
Lovely southern belles and talented, too!
Wow, what a dream team.

Anita's voice was like a Stradivarius being played by God.

True ,but where does that Aretha ?
Helen, the most beautiful woman to ever hold the name Carter
Yessss! She was a goddess! I'm smitten with her.
I just have to say-Anita for president.
She owns and rules

They are all beautiful Carter sisters
anita carter even stands out in a chior of legends
I could not have put it better if I'd spent a week trying to come up with a line roman. Simply the most stunning female voice I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.
Is she the third one who sang? The one with short dark hair? She does have the best voice of all of them.
If she's the third one who sang, with short dark hair, I totally agree with you.
Yes, that's Anita (the only one not playing a guitar). You might like to search for one of my favourite performances by her here on youtube -

It takes a worried woman to sing a worried song... Yeah, worried now but won't be worryin' long! 2:11 wow!
June will not let anyone talk now I see where Carlina gets her squirmy turning self-centered it's all about me but it's precious
Solos de Helen va a ser difícil que encuentres cantaban las cuatro juntas primero y ellas cuatro cuando murió Maybelline

I remember seeing this back in the day and it knocked my socks off. I would guess about 1990 + or - a year.
Auch ein Lieblingslied von mir.
Are there more videos where Helen sings solo?
Helen got hotter and hotter the older she got, and June was really talented, she can play guitar and auto harp really good but was overshadowed by Maybelle and Helen because they were pretty special at picking

Carlene is the daugther of June Carter (Cash) and Carl Smith, and stepdaughter of Johnny, granddaughter of Mother Maybelle, niece of June's sisters. She was once married to Brit rocker, Nick Lowe.
Carlene 's stepmother was none other than female country pioneer Goldie Hill Smith
Never listened hard to Anita, my mistake
Help me people; where does Carlene Carter fit into the Carter Family? I'm truly confused...
She is June's daughter
+robert spencer Thanks Rob, that makes sense
You welcome and Johnny Cash is her step father
Thanks; that makes the relationships much clearer. So, who was Carlene's biological father Rob?
Carl Smith..
Timestamps?
