In this video I show how to make a connection on Pex Al Pex pipe with a Rems Mini Press crimping tool. These tools are expensive but make a great reliable water tight connection.

Awesome video. This is some of the only information (believe me I've looked) on pex al pex on the internet. I got a good deal on lots of this tubing and fittings on ebay and will be using it for an irrigation system for trees, garden, grass, etc. My fittings are all plastic threaded so I hope they hold a seal.
Thank you for taking the time to post this.

dude pex shouldnt be exposed to UV light

It's also probably the only information cause they don't make PEX Al PEX anymore, and haven't since before this video i believe.. at least in my area I haven't seen it in use for over 10 years.. stuff has a bad lifespan and has lots of pending lawsuits against it i believe

Great video haven't got one of those reamers but do have REMS manual crimper cost about 250 Euro only with 16mm head cost effective if you're not using every day

I've never seen those fancy pex fittings. Those can't be cheap. I always used the brass fittings with the copper crimp rings. I'd love to have that power crimper though. 🔨

Hi Marcel. I think that fitting was about 2.50 dollars and it is a great leak proof system if you do it right. There is a manual crimper but it's a pain to do a lot of fittings. The Rems mini press tool is expensive but worth it if you were doing lots of joints. Thanks for the comment. Cheers Gerry

Gerry's Waste Oil Burner That price is actually much less than I expected. I was imagining in the 5 or 6 dollar range. Yeah I hate crimping with the hand crimper and it ain't always possible to get in a stud bay near an inside corner. Gotta plan ahead and get those joints done first.

That's true corners and cramped space can be a pain. I am back there tomorrow too and I could do with my honda generator working. I have to replace the carb. Might do that in the morning. Thanks for the comment Marcel Cheers Gerry

the pex-al pex pipe is from europe...not too many use it in the States...its the best fitting...far better than the compresion ring brass cooper etc...because its squezed like hell on the pipe...the fittings are not so expensive...but you can put it into the walls with no risks on leaking...like brass cooper ring style fitting.

Hi Gerry, what size pex-al-pex pipe do you use for your water outlets (washbasins, sinks, showers & toilets)? Great 👍 video, btw! Thanks!

Just use pex A. Pipe his using is good and cheap but the fittings and tool sucks.

I used pex when replacing my water heater about 10 years ago. So far no leaks.

Hi John. Pex is a good product but can go to mush if things get too hot. I have about 1.3 km of pex heating my floor for the last 13 years with no issues. I put about 1km of pex al pex in the floor of the house in this video. Going to show how I connect all the pipes to the underfloor heating manifold a little later in the week Well done on your water heater. Cheers Gerry

Hi Eye Toldyoosso. True it is a lot easier to roll out pex in one length and make connections at the start and end of the pipe. I still use lots of copper and soldered fittings though. I have underfloor heating at home so miles of pex in the floor but all good. Thanks for the comment Cheers Gerry

huh, just like cable, is there a compression plug type?

    • @GerrysDiy
      @GerrysDiy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Tony. There is a way to connect this pipe with compression fittings. I have a video out in a couple of days where I connect pex al pex pipe to a 14 port underfloor heating manifold using compression fittings. Cheers Gerry

I don’t understand why you’d waste time doing this when you can use simple pushfit?

      way better than pushfit
