Taking off the silencer makes the gun visibly shorter and let's you hold certain close angles without being seen. That is the only reason to take it off, but you're honestly better off just buying an m4a4 at that point.

No silencer = shorter gun. So you can camp behind a corner more effectively
Been playing this game for 10 years and only 2 times i tried this "strategy"...and i was the only one lol. It's not good at all and i've seen no one do it. It's even more of a telling in cs2 where you have the option to toggle off the silencer.

as a csgo veteran, i know three uses. running accuracy, shorter barrel for hiding in corners, and to make your decoys more useful. because not only are they now louder, but they also are the rarest gun sound in the game which can confuse opponents.

The only reason why m4a1 without surpressor is usefull is that it makes decoys finally usefull

Still useful for pretending that there's more than one person or just fooling your enemy into using different utils. You can do the same thing with the USP-S.

I don't know if this is still the case, but taking off the suppressor, then throwing a decoy grenade will make the unsuppressed sounds. These are louder and thus grab your attention more, but nobody uses decoy grenades anyway.
Didn't know that, gonna try it, decoy is useful when you are running late to site and use molly and smoke so they expect flash, you enter while they look away, with luck and accuracy you can get a kill or two
In cs source m4a1 with silencer had 5% damage dropoff and without silencer it was just 3%.. and m4a1 sound was amazing in source.. i used it 99% unsilenced

The advantage of unsilenced m4a1 is also that the barrel is shorter, so u cant be spotted in some corners where u would be seen with the silencer. So if u wanna hide its good to take it off

That 30 round mag and easy HS of the m4a4 is just superior imo

The M4A1-S unsilenced is literally identical stats but a shorter barrel and you appear on the minimap
Most people won’t recognize the gun’s firing sound, it can also be used to trick lower skill enemies
The reason the unsilenced version is best gun is becouse the enemy team gets so tilted when you kill then without the silencer and cool icon in the killfeed
Okay a comprehensive List of why the M4A1-NoS is top tier:

It also uses a unique audio sound vs the m4a4 and has a different icon in the kill feed. I use it unsuppressed for that reason.

How did it happen that from realism in CS:S, where weapons without a silencer were more accurate but louder, which was a good deal, we moved to CS2, where it is neither realistic nor profitable?
Please stop talking about realism, irl suppressors make you more accurate because of increased velocity and lower recoil. Cs:s literally did the opposite of realism when it came to that

another niche benefit of removing the surpressor is making the gun shorter so it doesnt stick around corners.
But through my 1000+ hours of CSGO I've only seen the surpressor around a corner twice

It's off by default lol, it used to be on by default in go, and it resulted in 100s of clips of people accidentally right clicking and unscrewing it mid fight lol

Btw, if you have no silencer on this gun, it makes it a little shorter so if you are behind a wall, and have a silencer, it makes it easy for the enemy to see you, but with no silencer, you have the advantage
How to be the most recognizable person on the map in one easy step
there are few angles where youd benefit to have the SUPPRESSOR removed, so your gun barrel doesnt expose your sneaky position to a T who can see it poking out if it is attached to the M4A1-S

I take off for shorter barrel (less noticeable behind the walls) and, the most important, the sound.
I like the noise, plus how the spread goes
Hiding around a corner don’t want the suppressor peaking out
in high level play you can bait players by taking off the silencer and shoot giving away your position voluntarily and kite them to your previous position.
Unsilenced M4 is better at instilling fear into hearts of Ts.
It reduces by much the size of the gun, in peaking situations is pretty useful, or if you wanna go under someone using a scoped weapon without them noticing and stuff like that
Never have I ever heard anyone referencing the old days by "condition zero" and not 1.6
also in CS2 the suppressor will make the bullet holes in smokes smaller and heal quicker making it harder to track when spamming smokes.

It's just that the buffs aren't that huge when you're shooting a guy who can see you anw, and is still within the effective range of an unsilenced weapon

It used to have a really cool sound in CSGO but valve removed that sound in CS2 and now it sounds like the M4A4 instead which sucks…

I use both and when am camping i unequip the silencer, makes a huge difference because sometines the enemy can see you

if youre at a close range angle for example in apps on mirage your silencer can tell enemys your position making them wallbang or prefire you and close range not having a silencer doesnt make a difference but thats nothing i need to worry about cuz im a m4a4 main

imo and experience unsilenced m4 made me cautious that enemy hiding might have normal m4

Running accuracy is kinda a double edged sword.
Good for new players until you realize it teaches bad habits and if they want to play a medium or high level, they will have to just learn counter strafing to stop anyway

It’s actually realistic because with the suppresor on the bullet gets more time to catch speed inside the gun so then the gravity dosen’t affect the bullet witch results in better range and accuracy
In CS:GO the M4A1 had a unique firing sound. In CS2, it shares the M4A4 sound bite.

Im not mad about the better running accuracy with the unsilenced M4A1, Im mad about the fact, that the weapon has a MAG SIZE OF 20! DOES IT LOOK LIKE IT CAN HOLD ONLY 20 ROUNDS?!
