I think if any taxpayer money is used it likely won't be on the arena itself but on roads and infrastructure leading to it and the other housing/commercial projects around it
People need to understand that this isn't the Eugene Senators. All different people involved...why wouldn't this get done? The deal seems alot better for the Sens. I grew up at the CTC in Kanata so I'd rather it stay where it is but I know the majority prefer it downtown.
Judging by the renderings the project will be positioned in the northern part of the lot. Which is above the aqueduct in the biggest part of the whole property. Which is where many local civil engineers expect the development to be. That leaves parking for the south part and allows other residential developments to go west. Up to city center. I would imagine they will use the natural land bridge as an entrance to the arena from the parking section with entry access from Preston Street. The entire rendering puts the aqueduct in front of the entrance. With the river behind it.
I'm kind of torn on the tax money issue. On one hand, i don't feel like tax money should be used on a project like this. On the other hand, I really want this project to go through and if it means using some of our money, then so be it.
Glad everything worked out, but I'm with the NCC on the parking situation. The more parking around the arena itself, the less good the vibes around the arena. I want the new arena to be a place where people come together, not dodging cars.
It's a net gain for the city, unless I'm mistaken....by them buying the land from the NCC, they become property tax payers, I can see the city granting them a break for a few years in the rate
Sens fans! How we feeling after yesterday's huge news? Let me know below!! 👇
I am very happy about this. I know there is lots of work to be done still before the estivation happens.
14:08 I hope Belleville Sens become the Kanata Sens as they don’t see to be selling out in Belleville.

Don't get too excited there are lots of rather large obstacles left to getting this done. How do they pay for it for one.
