Whew, that dance at the end . . . my lil 12 year old self just knew she killed it. My 36 year old self wondered at what age did I begin to understand what skill actually is.😂😂😂
That's what they patray in the movie. But people forget Julia styles can really dance. She went to dancing school in the 90's before the movie 10 things I hate about you came out then it was save the last dance.
One of my favorite movies. A classic. That last dance though was absolutely not Juliard worthy. But that soundtrack to the movie has some of my favorite songs on it top-tier.
This is one of my favorite movies lol I really thought Sarah was getting down when I was younger & I almost named my son after Fredo Star’s character, Malakai. I just thought he was so fine 😂😂
Center Stage is my fav dance movie from this era, but Save The Last Dance has a special place in my heart because me and my cousins used to watch it DAILY! 😭😭 we know this movie word for word. 😂😂 I will always have fond memories of it because of that, no matter how cringe it is. ALSO, the Soundtrack is FIRE!
Fun fact: Fredro Starr loved around the corner from me growing up in south Jamaica Queens. His mom was a middle school teacher at the school I went to and one of my friends dated his younger brother… Also, your reviews are GOLD!
I love Ashley , the way I was hollering. I wouldn’t lie, we were all gassed about this movie back . Watching it now shows she wasn’t even doing the bare minimum 😂
Julia was a great fit for save the last dance acting wise. The dancing was cringy but I wouldn’t want anyone else playing her role. Still one of my favorite movies. Edit : the choreographer for this movie was Fatima Robinson who was Aaliyah’s choreographer
That scene with Chenille & Sarah was more about Chenille trying to get Sarah to see her privilege & acknowledge it. Sarah is an outsider, trying to ingratiate herself into all black spaces whether it's changing her clothes, dance style & interactions. It's more about how they feel about her cultural appropriation & IR dating as a whole. Chenille doesn't have an issue with Sarah per se but the perception of their relationship is an obstacle they have to face whether they like it or not. We can't really remove context & history when it comes to peoples' understandings about interracial relationships & that's what Chenille meant when she told Sarah to open up her pretty brown eyes. Sarah clearly never had to think about race before & saw the world with this colorblindness that Chenille, Derek, Nikki even Malachi can't afford to.
When I say I knew every word in this movie!!!! This was my movie!!!!!!! This movie was the first dance movie I think. Then the other movies came out, You Got Served, Step Up etc.
I liked this one👀🍿. Maybe cause I was so young but loved Sean & Kerry sibs On the side tho ALL Channing & Twitch scenes in MAGIC MIKE 2 WERE THE BEST PARTS OF THE MOVIE🤯👀😍🌶🌶...dancing to Jacquees and sh*t🎉🎉 Yesssss pinks 1st album, Bianca Lawson & Pharell don't age🤯!!!!!!
@ashleymiller I love this movie! Can you do a movie corner in Beloved? I know this was deep one and tackled a lot of topics. But I’m just wanting your thoughts! Keep being great! Love your videos! ❤
Why I was watching Bob❤Abishola and her son showed them his audition tape for Julliard. I was like ok Sarah cause Julliard seems to still be letting everyone in their school.
Man I was 12 when this came out and thought it was so groundbreaking lol!! Save the Last Dance was the movie me and my little sister used to watch literally every day when we were younger and thought it was so good!! Julia Styles was at the beginning of her I think 10 Things I Hate About You was the first thing she was a couple years before that. She was ok in this but they definitely could’ve had a more seasoned actress especially one with dance training but she was young and it’s wasn’t too bad. This was my introduction to Kerry Washington!! In 2001 I would think the whole interracial relationship thing wouldn’t be such a big deal but apparently it still was. But this movie was very stereotypical in many ways but we watched as if it was truly something special. Sarah wasn’t that bad in this, But Chenille shouldn’t have made her feel bad because her being with Derek because she was white. I could see if she was actually problematic towards them but she wasn’t. Nicki was just jealous because Derek didn’t want her no more. If I was her I wouldn’t even been that threatened!! Sean Patrick Thomas was literally the same character in Barbershop which took place in Chicago also 😂!! He was good in this!! But man we thought that contemporary dance she did was just good while looking at this movie with adult eyes, I definitely wasn’t it!! That basic ass routine is what got her into Juliard?? Please!!! It had to have been her ballet training because chile I would’ve said NEXT to that performance!! It was so unseasoned!! I’ve watched years of Dance competition shows and real dancers this was not that!! Save the Last Dance is today’s equivalent to inviting a yt person to the cookout 😂! But it was a classic to us as kids 🤣😭😭
Save the last dance is my favorite movie. That movie is a fire 🔥 classic. I hated both Malakai and Nikki because they ain’t got no sense of respect. Sara and Derek relationship was so cute. I don’t care what people say. Chenille was a wonderful character too. Her and Derek have a great brother and sister relationship.
I just found that ms Tina middle name is Beyonce and that she was married to Robert. I laughed so hard I thought she was still with her children father
I think I liked that movie and other dance movies more when I was younger only because I used dance like that( Not 'Save The Last Dance' but 'You Got Served' type of dance😂). Side Note : I always thought it was weird how Derrick was so quick to defend Sarah when Malakai threatened her at the club but when Kenny was cussing and screamed at Shanell in front of the baby, Derrick didn't defend her or do anything (maybe he left Idk but he was definitely there.). I ain't saying he had to swing on the guy but why the writers couldn't at least show him defending his sister or at least try to calm the father down from screaming and cursing around his baby?? Because I'm pretty sure it wasn't the first time Kenny has screamed on her like that.
I ain't looking for a steady thing I ain't looking for what love brings I'm still young and I ain't ready babe I'm still looking for some better days I don't want to give you everything I just want to make you feel things G’on, Pink. Her first album was the shit. You should do old album reviews. That would be a good one.
Ashley I love yer reviews but I be nervous to watch sometimes cuz u drop spoilers for other movies/shows… don’t ever change yer approach!!! but I don’t be prepared sometimes 😂
@@TierraGroves so mentioning Cocaine Bear and that Julie played a mother in it is spoiling it when it’s been out and I’ve already done a review on it? Mind you, I got her mixed up with Keri Russell
@@AshleyMillerTV nah I jus watch stuff late so that my fault 🤦🏾♂️ .. I was watching one of yer reviews yesterday nd u was like I can’t believe he killed that nigga *blank* on that other show I was like sheshhh I ain’t get to that season yet 😂
This review had me weak😂. I enjoyed this movie when I was younger but nowadays it's funny and annoying most of the movie. I feel like Julia was less stiff in 10 things I Hate About You.
Keri Russell was in Cocaine Bear not Julia. Those white ladies don’t look alike! 😂 Keri was a dancer back in the day though. I remember her on The Mickey Mouse club dancing. She possibly would’ve been a better fit for the role instead of Julia.
I was in the live and had to rewatch with my sons😂😂 Girl from bout 32 minute mark!! I can mf not!!!, Had to save this video to ‘comedy’ RT. The end “with this?🫲🏽🫱🏾✋🏾”😂😂
I loved when Kyla Pratt Played out the scene with Flex on One on One and she started singing LIVE YOUR DREAM 😂😂😂
Yes 😂😂😂

I loved this movie as a kid. Honey, too. I really thought they could dance 😂
That's what they patray in the movie. But people forget Julia styles can really dance. She went to dancing school in the 90's before the movie 10 things I hate about you came out then it was save the last dance.
Omg yes Honey was favorite! I remember the DVD came with the steps so you could learn the dances 😂
Yes!! Jessica Alba couldn’t actually dance!!! It was giving bootleg early JLo dancer vibes!! But we thought she was doing that 😂
@@ToniWellons Laurieann Gibson, the film's choreographer, couldn't have even save her non-dancing ass 🤣
😂😂really? 😂😂
One of my favorite movies. A classic. That last dance though was absolutely not Juliard worthy. But that soundtrack to the movie has some of my favorite songs on it top-tier.
Julia Styles played the mom in the Orphan prequel. Keri Russell, who was Felicity from the 90s WB show, played the mom in Cocaine Bear.
I was just finna say that I didn't remember seeing her in cocaine bear
Derrick- this ain’t no square Dancing
Sarah - that’s OK. I’ll dance in circles and probably around you.
"Aint no shame or blame in that."
"At least you found someone who loves you back!"
I'm sorry but I read that in Channilles voice. Kerry Washington with that bottom lip sticking out 😂😂😂

Sean Patrick Thomas had a dance coach who taught him how to dance for this movie instead of Julia😅
