0:50 Someone Call OSHA. 1)Improperly saddled hook. 2)Standing between hook and anchor in tension test. 3)Tensioning cable next to head 4)No glasses/hardhat Stuff breaks. Don't do this.

No. They are disassembled. Think of it like taking a tape measure and as you pull the tape out, you spiral it and pull on it to form a stretched cylinder.
I don't think so. It looks like the pillars are kind of like a paper towel tube: it's essentially metal tape that zips together as the lift goes up, and unzips as it comes down, leaving you with just coiled metal which fits within the profile of the device.
No. The pillar is stored like a tape measure at the bottom. It gets rolled out like a toilet roll tube. So a flat roll can turn into a tube. The lugs and punches holes hold it all together on place of an adhesive that a toilet roll uses. This is reversible. But it looks like it has low robustness. Dint that tube and the sheet won't roll up properly. Also I think it's linear carrying capacity would be as weak as the lowers lug. Great way of getting a 20+ to 1 extension ratio though.

Where can we source one of these?

That would make perfect coffee table, that can convert into standing table on demand.
So would a standard 2 stage linear electric motor. A coffee table only needs to triple in height.
This beauty looks like. 20+ to 1 ratio is possible.
This would also make a great Theatre Organ console lift.
So the pillars are obviously down in the floor when the platform is all the way down right?
