Hope you guys enjoyed this video on one of my vintage lenses, the Helios 44-2 58mm f2. I have a collection of them so I will be making more test and review/informative videos in the future since they are all amazing as a well! 💚🙌
It is important to keep in mind, that image can depend on a plant where the lens was made. It is not only about build quality, each producer has its own little effects
Yeah 100%, but that just makes it more unique in my opinion. I own a couple of them by now and love them all haha 😅 my Helios 44M definitely has better build quality but the image is less impressive as the 44-2.
@@edouhoekie Idk … Literally the first one I guess (maybe) Its name Helios on it, a 50mm silver housing and legit murky lenses element sit on ass in my grandpa trophy cabin forever.
@@qenreblayers5331The 50mm is the Helios 77m-4 (or similar 77 something) and all Helios lenses have a silver version. They are a little better built sometimes and definitely look better haha. Awesome you found it!
Dude, if lens is *50 years old, and USED,* do you expect perfect not rattling thing? I can tell you, I ordered a couple "lens baby" velvets, that cost about $400 each and they do "maracas" out of the box. AND manufacturer said "that's ok, it's fine, as supposed to be" 🤣 Literally the lens was made before you born. I'm pretty sure that at moment of production Helios was very nice, and loose over time (decades!) and under usage.
I actually own multiple and the model/version shown in the video is just badly manufactured compared to the Helios 44m and other better versions. But this is the cheapest and the most available of them all and I really don't care if it rattles a bit haha the images are awesome and that's what matters.

I also have that lens together with the Helios 50mm and the Helios 85mm and they are really such beautiful lenses. 🎥
100%, they are all amazing lenses!
i will be getting one, thank you for showing this awesome lens!!
Make sure to get the right adapter for your camera since it's an M42 screw mount lens 🙌
I got it months ago, but i think the 44-2 (the best in image quality and bokeh through all the helios 44 models) has polarization problems
Hmmm interesting, I haven't had any of these issues before. Nor have I seen them. Might be your copy or do you know others that have these issues?
Got mine coming in from Ukraine. Excited to give it a try!
Awesome! I found mine in a small thrift store for like 15 bucks haha 😅
Keep it up moody, mine Helios was like first version World War II sicko lens or something …
You mean the Zeiss Biotar 58mm? The one the design was stolen from or? Some early Helios production lens?
