    I am also a Mopar guy. But I appreciate these cougars. I am a big fan of the FE engine. I owned a mid 60s Mercury with a 390. I was really surprised how strong it was.

    I am a Chevy guy who loves all old school muscle cars. I can remember in the 1970s when I would see any Cougar Elimiator , it would stop me in my tracks and I would just stare at it. Beautiful cars

    Yeah I love that car my favorite year and model of Cougar Eliminator although is crazy as this sounds I probably would prefer the 302 engine simply for weight savings there for handling since it isn't say a LS6 Chevelle or GSX or Boss 429 Mustang I mean that's what I would prefer

    I really appreciate the fact that even though these cars are a rare piece of History, you're not afraid to drive them, and show us the brutal horsepower these vehicles made. to me no matter how Hi-Tech these vehicles are today, there is absolutely no comparison to the quality ,class , workmanship of the old school hot rods. thank you for the in-depth commentary of each vehicle, I enjoy looking forward to each episode.

      Amen brother....the vehicles manufactured today are engineered to fail after so much time. Computer components are bound to fail,and cars today are 95 percent electronic

    • @jeremythompson9895
      @jeremythompson9895 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @butchtropic Not a fan of modern fuel injected vehicles. Like to still be able to work on them myself instead of having to take them to the shop for every little thing. Computer components only last so long and they're bound to fail. Especially the really new cars that just have so many gadgets and everything that it's more shit to go wrong. Can't even get an inspection sticker if the check engine light is on because of some dumb sensor somewhere. And the little bit older EFI vehicles had a pretty primitive computer that basically told u nothing when hooked up to the diagnostic computer. So basically you have to just keep buying different sensors until you find the one that fixes the issue. Yeah all the modern creature comforts are nice but still No thanks....I'll stick with older carbureted vehicles

    • @jeremythompson9895
      @jeremythompson9895 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @butchtropic you will never see today's cars on the road in 50 years or more. Just too much electronic shit crammed into those computers there's no way they will last that long

    The Cougar, in my opinion, looks awesome! I wish they had been built in half the quantity of the Mustang, then there would be a good shot, at buying a builder, rust-free, for a reasonable price. Expensive stuff now!! I love them anyway, Great video!!

    I fondly remember my Cougar Years.
    Started with a ‘68 289 followed by a ‘67 390 4spd and culminated in the ‘68 GTE427 auto.
    Just wondering about Parts availability, even in 1972 some Trim Parts were no longer provided for my GTE.
    Not the fasted Cars I’ve owned, but fun to toodle around in, loved the Style!

    I had a 69 baby blue cougar with the 351. Loved that car. It’s the best car I’ve owned, I’d choose it over my 2013 5.0 Mustang GT or my 2018 5.0 Mustang GT.

    I love seeing the 1967 to 1974 Cougars, I own several of the 69/70 models. 25 years ago I set out to learn every known detail there was to know about the Cougars, and I quickly found out that I didn't really enjoy the people you eventually have contention with, when you ask for factual details by the numbers. The Marti Report can be purchased, and Eliminates those questions. The Cougars are not as easily customized as the Mustangs, but they can be customized. The Cougar offered way more luxury amenities, while maintaining the same performance platform that was offered on all the Mustangs, and if you include the offerings contracted thru Kar Kraft for race purposes, up to and including the BOSS429. There are two documented BOSS9 Cougar examples, built at Kar Kraft, that were raced by “Dyno Don” Nicholson and "Fast Eddie” Schartman.
    I want to say "Great Job!" by Muscle Car of the Week! the only two things I would ask is for more technical details on the cars, and the owners and locations, and having said that I certainly understand why you don't already have locations and tech details....both can be very difficult. Keep it fun, and Thanks!

    My dad had a 69 XR7 with a 351 Windsor. Not sure what horsepower it had, since he added a second 4 bbl, but it was originally rated at 295. Ut it was a torque monster. As a kid my head would be pinned to the back of the seat when he’d floor it off the line.

    Almost every muscle car that Ford made back in the 60s to 1972 looked good especially when putting a nice set of chrome wheels on them mustangs, Falcons, Fairlanes, Torinos, Galaxies, Mercury Cougars, Mercury Comets, Mercury Cyclones, full size Mercury's. When you talk about Ford they made Variety when came to convertible, coupe, fastback different sizes of engines. The competition can never say Ford was never serious about racing because they brought a smorgusborge of cars to race in all the different types of racing events. If they would of continued to build race cars from the factory through the mid 70s up tell now they would be hard to beat instead they were asked to focus on building economy cars.

    The Ford 390 never really gets any attention. All you hear about is 302,351,427,428,and 429s. The 390 was a good running engine. Was the fastest out there but it was no slouch either
