    Great advice, Pete! I’ve been a reseller for a couple of years now and my journey is so similar to yours. I was so guilty of buying clothes on the £1 rail til I realised there’s a reason they’re on the £1 rail 🤣. Check every single item now on my phone, only pick things up if I know I can make a minimum of £10 profit. Now I’m much more picky! 👍

    I use to resell but on amazon (little bit on ebay). Did it for a couple years on top of a ft job too. Amazon changed goalpost so it went from being a nice sideline to being not worth it. It's a different beast I guess. Disabled now so not easy to get about to carboots or charity shops. Pity as i'll be made redundant soon i'd love to do this as a job. I don't drive lolololol so not going to happen. I'll just live through you guys. lol so enjoyable. Very informative vid.

    haha, made me laugh when u said someone went into the changing room to do their research. I just took photos of the items and sat in the car looking them up. Didn't even have any money to buy anything that day, I just wanted to see what it felt like searching for bargains and if I could cope being in a shop. Wasn't too bad apart from it being so busy and expensive!! Will be going a different town next time.

      Oh Emma - Same! British Heart Foundation shops round me are the most expensive. I’ve found that the more independent or local ones like local Hospices & YMCA shops are much cheaper and have same quality donations.
      Rule of thumb seems to be that if they have an online shop or EBay shop- they charge more in the physical shops.
      But remember that no Charity Lister’s know every single label so you can still get lucky if like Pete says, you Do Your Research and Learn Your No’s
      His advice here really is priceless and so unselfish of him to share with us. He & Lola are just amazing, decent (& also hilarious!) lovely people xxx

      @@fcohen8296 hi, yes I source in the city and yes it is a bit expensive. I am picky about what I pick up. Jeans are 10 dollars but I only pick up the ones I can flip for 50-60 dollars I’ve flipped quite a few for 100+ I also worked Luxury retail for 10 years and it helps to know brands. We also have goodwill outlets where you buy clothes by weight here in NYC it’s 1.69 lbs but it’s hard work digging in bins for treasures. Hey great job on your TH-cam channel awesome content 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

    Like others, I've come upon you with the recommendation of the lovely Lavender Clothesline. • @Chaddypete
      @Chaddypete  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your kind on both comments! Personally for me, it was around six or so months before I could confidently pick up certain items and be happy it would sell. I do, however still check prices as the market fluctuates on particular brands and styles, so its never really fixed thing!

    I am also a reseller, I love being my own boss and obviously enjoy the sourcing more than listing and as such I have a huge reserve of stock, the only downside to me is peoples reactions when I tell them what I do, I feel that most people with normal jobs look down on people like us and either assume we are lazy or on benefits as well, annoys me sometimes, do you find this at all?

    • @Chaddypete
      @Chaddypete  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I started selling when I was working full time so I didn't really get those reactions, I got teased a bit about it though but I was able to replace my full time income with this, so the teasing stopped!!🤣 At the end of the day, that's the only downside and you get to sleep in late, then its good enough for me!

    No one in a charity shop would approach you because you’re a big scary looking man 😅 but Iv heard conversations between the staff & some customers chatting to the staff who are nothing short of enraged if they think people are buying to sell!! So I never check the comps inside the shop as I would be devastated if they questioned me😮! I have no idea why people get enraged at the thought of people making a bit of money from selling the goods on - as I’m pretty sure resellers make up a decent amount of the sales in charity shops & without us sales would take a nose dive!!! So the haters need to sit back & have a rethink - as we pay the same as everyone else & keep the profits rolling in for charity’s & keep things from landfill!! Plus if they need to get angry at anyone - get angry at the managers who are taking a big wage from the sales!! Nuff said!! 😂❤

    • @Chaddypete
      @Chaddypete  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😂😂 people need to remember that the Charity Shop is there to fund the charity they represent, it’s not for poor people or there would be way more in poorer areas and hardly any in affluent areas, but they have the same amount.
      Most of the people that complain about this, don’t even go into charity shops, so they’re not helping them to stay open!
      I could go into the amount that Charity Shops throw away on a daily basis because there is no space but that’s for a different day 😂
