These are the best videos out there on high end engineers I’ve seen. Thanks👍 I like your style and commentary. Excellent content and quality. I’m sure there’s other videos on other pieces on clothing and I’ll check em out. Got an obsession with engineers and selvedge denim right now.
I just got a pair of these based on your review and recommendation. The leather is very nice and the build quality is great. My only issue with them is that they are not a true black. They are dark brown, and the edge trim is also brown. Your boots look like a true black. Also, some water dripped on my boot and the finish came off with it. Left a big spot. It won’t go away. I’m not quite sure if it’s just a trick of the light in your video or if yours are actually that dark. Anyway, happy, not happy with the boots.
I just got my first pair of engineer boots. The flat head horsehide cordovan. Could you please link to a boot care article? I don't want to mess up these beautiful boots with the wrong type of care. 😅
First thing is to just wear them! Most important is to brush them often and keep dirt off of them. You can condition them as needed, but most people condition more than necessary.
Thanks man! I appreciate it. You'd have to ask Troy the meaning behind the logo. It looked like that to me too, but I don't remember him saying that was the inspo
Those are nice, but I still like the John Lofgren Engineer silhouette better. My Lofgren also has no heel slip. I had a Wesco Boss Engineer from The Shop, but they had so much heel slip, I had to resale them.
I certainly won't argue with that. Lofgren engineers are beautiful. It's a brilliant design. I love mine. Yeah, I had the same experience with Wesco unfortunately which is sad, because I dig the look.
Hey thanks so much for the great video. Been wearing engineer boots since the early eighties when they were around $65. Georgia boots were my first engineer boots complete with “TOE TRACKS”, remember those? Just recently purchased a pair of Motos on eBay based on your video. I’m usually a size 9 but purchased a size 8 based on seller’s description. Can’t wait to get them!! Do you think the size will be right? Joe
Yeah I still see a couple boots here and there with toe tracks, but not many! If you're a 9 on a brannock they should work. They fit around one size larger than brannock in my experience, but if you buy boots in size 9 then they may be half a size small
Do you consider the shaft of the boots to be narrow, average or wide? Just wondering how they will fit under my pants. They look pretty similar to my Flat Heads in the shaft. Thx.
Still concerned about them not fitting as I can't return 😕 Didn't have a good experience with Attractions as I couldn't get them in. Not sure if engineer boots work for me🤔
I would too, but they need to come up with some more attractive engineer designs. They're too 1980s Harley rider looking for me. I'd like something more 30s and 40s inspired
Hey any one else have trouble putting these on? Just got my first pair and have a very hard time getting them on and off! Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks, Joe
I also attempted to get motor boots. But they rarely get pre-order through DM or e-mail during limited period. So I ordered other brand and.. goddamn.. they started to get pre-order recentely..😂
Good review as usual, these boots look sick. My only worry with these would be I have skinny ankles/lower legs, so fit-wise it’s a big gamble especially at 700+ USD. Do you know if they have women’s engineer boots by any chance? Does anyone even make those?
I don't know anyone who specifically makes women's models. However, I know that John Lofgren can make smaller sized boots, including engineers in women's sizes and they do that quite well. Benzein would probably be able to accommodate you as well.
Moto are great but mainly in terms of leather, their last was too roomy for me so I had to relast them. I can agree that the leather is spectacular and aging really really well. If you can get them, value for money they are worth every penny. I think attractions are great competitors yet a bit higher in price.
Thank you so much for sharing this. These boots are beautiful and I hope I’m not late to the party ordering a pair. I just sent them an IG message and an email in hopes of catching the Spring release. As a leather crafter, seeing the gap in the market for even more affordable engineers makes me want to pursue boot making. You and I are the same size so let me know if you ever decide to let these go 😉
No problem! I still think this brand is underrated and you are absolutely right. There is a gap in the market for more affordable engineer boots. I just haven't seen any good ones that are currently under $600 even.
I'm not sure, sorry. That isn't something that I specifically look for. My guess is if that's something you want, you can probably ask one of the Indonesian makers to adjust the strap length and position for you to give you a lower buckle placement.
Depends on which ones. They're old Shinki horsebutt ones from many years ago were incredible. The newer ones are basically trying to look like Lofgrens IMO. May as well get the Lofgrens because they're better designed
@@almostvintagestyle Yeah it’s the only engineer self edge has on their website so was curious. Prob better to go through fromjapan I think for a motor or attractions pair I guess
I got my pair of Motor engineers around the same time as you. Love them, and they’re my first try at engineers. Also, shots fired at all the Clinch copy cats. I’ve been seeing so many Clinch-looking boots/styles. Granted, most look pretty good of a copy though 😂 and at a lower price point they’re hard to ignore.
Glad you like yours too! Yup it's a weird topic to discuss and I will be talking about it more in the near future. It's not as black and white as we would like to think that it is.
When I was a kid back in the 1950s in Baltimore ,MD boots like those where in style with jeans and a white shirt .
Yeah I still think that look is a good one

I ordered a pair of these because of this review. Looking forward to receiving them. Thx for the thorough review.
Glad to hear it! Hope you love them!

Mine are actually a true black color. Sorry to hear that. I haven't seen them have that issue before. Definitely not great.
You might consider applying some Saphir black shoe cream.
Love my pair! A bit of heel slip due to my low volume foot. Otherwise, super comfy and they look amazing. Great vid as always
Thanks very much! They are slightly roomy, but fantastic. Glad you like yours
Hey can you send me the link for buy one of the boots

Insta-like 👍🏽 Such good boots; glad you finally were able to cop a pair 🍻 And…Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers? Nice hat 🔥

I am having problems trying to find the Motor Engineer boots. Can you give us any advice on where we can buy them 😊
Thank you for the review :) What kind of arch support do they have?
I would say they have only a slight amount of arch support. They certainly do not approach Whites or Nicks in that department. They're pretty flat.

I consider this pair fairly standard. Not super wide like some, buy not narrow either.
Do you know how to pick your size on these? I emailed Moto but haven’t heard back.
I went down one size from my brannock
Still concerned about them not fitting as I can't return 😕 Didn't have a good experience with Attractions as I couldn't get them in. Not sure if engineer boots work for me🤔
They're popular enough that you should be able to flip them fairly easily
Would love to see you wear a whites or Nick's engineer boot
I would too, but they need to come up with some more attractive engineer designs. They're too 1980s Harley rider looking for me. I'd like something more 30s and 40s inspired
@@almostvintagestyle I knew it had something to do with design!
@@likearc You were correct! I'm pretty picky with my engineers.
What kind of socks do you wear with your engineers? Super thick wool or just regular cotton
Usually just regular cotton. I do have some thicker boot socks and wool socks that I wear when it's cold out.

I haven't, but you could try the plastic bag trick. That helps a lot of people!
I also attempted to get motor boots. But they rarely get pre-order through DM or e-mail during limited period. So I ordered other brand and.. goddamn.. they started to get pre-order recentely..😂
Ah sorry that's bad timing. This is usually when they do the orders each year. They tend to arrive in late winter or early spring
Is this actually "Moto" brand you are speaking of? If so, where is the best place to buy (Bricks or On-Line)?
Yes it is this brand. You can order via email or Instagram, but they do have brick and mortar stores in Japan as well
Am I dumb? I can’t find a link for these and tried googling Motor Horsehide engineer boots.
Where can I find these?
You can find them on Instagram

Can you put their Instagram link anywhere?
It's @leathers_things_motor
What kind of jackey is that?
It's an old RMC/TMC 1930s aviator style jacket
Try Canada west boots
Haven't heard of them. Thanks!
I like the slightly bulbous toe…not too cowboy and not too “Herman Munster”
Me too. I think it's a good balance.
link to buy?
I would suggest sending a DM or email to Motor if you're not in Japan

Did they go out of business?
Expensive as hell
For engineers these are pretty low on the price scale. Engineers just tend to cost more
Beautiful
