Love this song my buddy showed me then he died 5 months later life is to short . Your heart might always be the right place but the brain isent sometimes RIP ASH my buddy
I've been lucky enough in my life to not have suffered a serious drug addiction (except perhaps cigarettes which I quit at 30yo.) And yet the tragedy and drama outlined in this song never fails to move me. This is a real tribute to the artistry of Matt Mays. This song is fucking brilliant.
I spent a stint of thirty days in detox with a girl named Sara. That was 27 years ago. I play this song weekly. Never fails to draw a tear. Wonder is she is still alive. Addiction sucks.
I'm proud to be Nova Scotia strong. We have SO MUCH talent here in this province it's ridiculously brilliant. I can promise you a great time in Halifax. Every band at any bar here is great IMO.the 20$ cover charge is worth the money at any bar in Halifax.
For some reason, routes and airfares to reach the Atlantic Provinces from the USA are not usually great. That said, N.S. has been great the two times that I was lucky enough to visit.
I would love to hear this song live like this, I think there is something about the power of this song. The acoustic version doesn't sound bad but this song absolutely kills it :)
I use to do this twice a week newspaper delivery job when i was teenager and the guy i was doing it asked me to help him for the nights because he had to deliver some very early ( different newpapers and this one is every single morning ) and i said yes and remember how i was stressed in the beginning but i quickly discovered music with him while i was in the back of his car rolling papers i remembr being hyped to wake up at 2 am waiting for him to come pick me up at my home and then we’ll be listening to good music until the sun comes up while doing his work mostly from (2 am to 7am) and then id always be trying to name every single band i knew or would just name random ones i thought could be and learned so much more in the process of doing so and remember some of these winter nights were rough and harsh but we passed though because of music kept us going , i remember always following drums with a rolled paper in my hand , he too showed me how to drive a car and then when i got my license few years later and i had enough money to buy a car i was now doing my own newspapers run every single morning like he did and was listening to those classics on the radio in the depths of the nights. I remember all of those nights ( it was a 7/7 day job ) and i really liked it and will forever be associating some of these songs to that specific point in my life , it was truly special, i miss this .

One of my favs of all time. I live in NW Washington state and used to listen to a Victoria radio station that played the great Canadian musicians is why I found this classic. Thanks.
Where’s the Aramaic translation if it’s so ancient lmfao, look at the cars late 70s to 90s it looks like lol . ancient wouldn’t even be Beethoven Ffs lol take a long look back buddy
This song is wicked!!! I've seen these guts and friends numerous times and always a great show great sound. My daughter introduced me years ago and now they've become a staple on my list. Thanks keep it up.
Why is this song hard to find??? This should be on top hit best of all time at least as a one hit wonder wtf is going on lol heard it way back it’s a great song.
Still one of my favorite tunes to this day, one of the most fun songs to play on a stage too. It’s got so much emotion, distorted guitar, cool breaks, great riffs and ends in an epic little guitar solo.
hey matt, ever wonder, think of some of the greats would you be able to sing this song for 20 years non stop? i know you live a life, but what if you became that piano song everybody sings? could you? i really like the song but got me thinking
They did not get the traction they deserved, quite a bit of it stems from timing, if this just came out and hit the radio waves in 2023 or the past few years where you CAN gain an audience from the armchair rather than 2005 when it was released , the outcome may have been different and the worst part of all that is what was actually on the radio waves at the time. We have to play X amount of Canadian content on the radio and if you were to go through the stations right now , I would bet dollars to doughnuts that you will hear one of the same 20 songs on repeat and they are good too , just overplayed. Similar Category as Big Sugar or The Headstones , amazing talent and not enough airplay. Just an opinion and not a fact

Looking back, through the chapters of your life
Searching for a storyline
'Cause the one you're leading now is doing nothing for you
Say goodbye to your friends and the ones who love you
Moving on
JJ's song has been pushing you along
Gypsy man on a one night stand
Moving to the night far from the lights
On an asphalt path drifting over the white line
Gypsy man nobody knows
Cocaine cowgirl, she's out catching eyes
On the other end of the desert sky
Taking you down to the dark side of town
A dark side of town
Cocaine cowgirl nobody knows
Looking back, through the chapters of your life
Searching for a storyline
'Cause any line is a good time for you
Living what the World's been writing for you
Cocaine cowgirl nobody knows
'Cause any line is a good time for you
Living what the world has written for you
Gypsy man nobody knows
'Cause any line is a good time for you
Living what the world has written for you
Cocaine cowgirl nobody knows
Thanks

Saw him open for Blue Rodeo in MTL.
So lucky!
That must've been an honor for Matt Mays
I've met him.. Twice😁
Blue Rodeo is the best yet underrated band in Canada as far as I'm concerned ...💙
i live in winnipeg and the AM station i listen to uses this song as this morning outro when their shift ends, funny to hear it on AM radio.

Story line, first wife ,gepsy man , cocaine cow girl, BEST time of my life 16 year's,
Sounds like Tom Petty ?
The first time I heard "Cocaine Cowgirl" on the radio I thought it was Tom Petty.
I love this song from the first time I heard it. I started listening again because I expected it to be part of the cocaine bear movie soundtrack.
