    Thank you for watching! What is your favourite chord progression that you can hear in the songs you love?

      Is this Sophie's Choice?
      I like'em all.
      2-5-1
      6-2-5-1
      Awesome progressions
      What is your favorite sunset? Or robin song?
      Oh wait, all the birds are dead or dying. Forget that last one.

    Nothing is better than a teacher. You must practice but undestand how music theory works. Your teacher knows and you don't. That's the beggining at all.

    This is the thing I was doing in my childhood when I got a basic piano, and I did the same last year when I bought the 2 entry level Yamaha piano, but I was so busy building my career, so I wasn't playing a lot.
    Learning to play with piano was a dream for me from a long time and I really want to buy a better piano this year and start learning again.

      That's great you were doing these things in your childhood. It shows your musical instincts were good. It's never too late to continue developing your playing!

    Thanks very much. You've made several videos recently that have convinced me that my ear is my weak spot, and I've neglected this part of mymusic education. I should have learned this 60 years ago, but I had unpleasant experiences with music teachers since it was easy to make other students laugh when I tried to sing or play. Oh well, it developed my comedy skills.
    I've wanted to follow a course for a while, but my financial situation has been more than precarious. That is changing and I'll be contacting you shortly.
    BTW my video for exercises to prevent back pain as well as for the shoulders and hands is now on You Tube. Oh My Aching Bach. Take a look at it and maybe you might want to steer your students that way. It takes 30 seconds of exercises for the low back. But it should be done daily.

    Thank you, Tom. You've created a fundamental shift in my thinking about and approach to learning piano.
    I can pick out two chords consistently among your simple examples. Two short weeks ago, I wouldn't have been able to do even that.
    I'm grateful for and excited about this.

    I've studied classical from age 5-18 and again 27-29. I've never learned this and wish I had

    • @contemporaryschoolofpiano
      @contemporaryschoolofpiano  ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't we all - I wish I had learnt this too. But it's never too late, playing by ear is a great way to build your internal musicianship.

      @contemporaryschoolofpiano  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @vicphillips4374 yes, for those who already play by ear it might be over explained, but our audience value detailed explanation as you might see in the comments. Though we have some other videos on the channel that are more hands on.
