Used your write up online to get direwolf successfully configured. I’ve never set it up before and was a little worried it wouldn’t work but I was surprised when the command to test ptt worked and I heard the signal on another radio! Went for a drive last night and it worked running YAAC. Thanks for the help!
I have installed Direwolf and Pinpoint on a windows machine with a big thank you. Had to back up a few time to hear and or see what you did, i am an older ham. Great content and a good teacher.
Billy ... you did not disappoint Sir! A functioning APRS client. Can't wait until we play with JNOS. That WAS the BBS software of the day when I first played with packet radio. Thanks again! 73 - KF6IF
Thank you for all of your videos. I'm really looking fwd to getting going with packet. I was never able to before it faded away. So very enthusiastic this time.
Hi, I'm looking all over the net for Information on how to set up a BBS System. Every info I found is about getting into a System but not setting up one. Can you please make a Video about it.. Thank you in advance 73 Tom
Thanks for another great video! I'm getting lots of APRS-IS reports, yay! But no radio reports from 144.390 MHz. Also I get this error message in the events window: "4/17/2024 10:30:29 PM Could not send KK7QPA-10>APIN21,WIDE1-1,WIDE2-1:!3223.30N/11104.88WyHome APRS Test to TNC. Error: The write timed out." My location does show up on the APRS.FI map!
Glad to hear you have the APRS-IS side working. If this error is showing up in Pinpoint, does your direwolf window show any indication that Pinpoint tried to connect to it? And what are you using for the "hostname" for the Network Kiss TNC setting? One more thing to check is to make sure your audio devices/ptt port have not changed for direwolf. Direwolf may revel something useful.
@@ModernHam Direwolf works great, pulls in radio messages and displays in green/blue. No error messages in Direwolf from Pinpoint. Host name is 127.0.0.1 and port 8001. When I run Pinpoint it pulls in IS positions, but not radio positions from Direwolf. There seems to be no communication between Pinpoint and Direwolf. Thanks for your help!
This is very strange. I assume direwolf is running on the same system as pinpoint if you are using 127.0.0.1. When you Press Tools -> Connect TNC, does it show "TNC Connected" at the bottom.
Sorry for the quiet audio. Will adjust it for the next one.

Great video! I have Pinpoint running with a KPC-3. I need to explore Dire Wolf. It is great to see growing interest in packet! 73, Patrick KF4LMZ
Nice to know it works with the KPC-3. Direwolf is a nice option for those without space or money for a hardware tnc.

Same for me here. I've got a few blog posts up, but the videos will start coming out next week.
I have searched and searched and can not figure out how to add a object using pin point ?????
good timing bro i needed this
Glad I could help
I have the Kenwood D75A with built in TNC, Kiss by Bluetooth,
Will this work with a mobilinkd-tnc3?
I think it would. As long as there is a serial option.

It's coming next week! I'll have a BPQ32 and LinBPQ video up.

@@ModernHam Yes, it also TNC connected at the bottom of the Pinpoint screen. Poop!
