  • The French far right may have been defeated at the polls, but much of the press remains sympathetic to Marine Le Pen’s National Rally. How will the incoming left-wing coalition navigate a hostile media and a hung parliament?

    On our radar:
Israel has maintained its onslaught on Gaza, attacking schools, killing journalists and ordering all citizens of Gaza City to leave their homes.
Meenakshi Ravi compares how Western media responded to events in Gaza with their coverage of Russia’s latest strikes in Ukraine.
The Bolloré buyout: France’s media tycoon turns to Africa
France’s biggest media owner, controversial billionaire Vincent Bolloré, has his eyes on the African market - all of it. The Listening Post’s Nic Muirhead reports on what could be the biggest media buyout the continent has ever seen.

And as he’s a zi0 who definitely doesn’t give a S about human’s lives… he would be capable of restarting an apartheid regime again !
believe me I’m from France an he’s a real danger ! ( in only a few year he managed to corrupt politicians and bribe journalists to change the narrative of all the mainstream media including the press, so no wonder more and more people became rac!st!
The bollore group has accumulated 7.2 million euros of fine by the French media regulator but he doesn’t care and continues doing whatever pleases him, he’s got the money and is backed by the government anyway ! So good luck with that!

It's the government's job to make sure that independent media is not biased. That's the only way. You cannot have one biased billionaire be regulated by another biased billionaire. The only entity that has any claim to this job is the government. If the country is a democracy, and the government is a representation of the will of the people, then, through the government, the media will remain unbaised through the will of the people or the media will reflect the biases of the people instead of a single billionaire.

J.L Mélanchon has condemned Hamas again and again but he had not used the exact wording other want. Calling what happened on Oct7th a horrendous war crime istead of a terrorist attack like mainstream media as if one is better than the other. But using the term war means that there are 2 "people" fighting when a terrorist attack makes it look like innocent people have been attacked out of nowhere and for no reasons. It depends on if you think that everything started on Oct7th or if you choose to look at the full contest and not ignoring the many deaths before Oct7th. So what is blamed on him still in July 2024 is to not ONLY focus on Oct 7th 2023 . What is blame on him is to care for the Israelien people deaths but not only them. How dare he brings palestinians death as well? That's what truly bothers them. His party is the only one talking about what is going on in gaza now and the current daily death of thousands of innocent men, women, children as well as the full destruction of gaza.

Only 25% of people voted for the 'left', 37% voted for the 'far right' and then the remainder voted for 'centrists' and 'conservatives'. I do wonder how many of the centrist/conservative voters would prefer RN over the Popular Front. So to say the French public "rejected" RN when they had the highest vote share of any party and their share of the national vote increased by 20% would be inaccurate in my opinion. The RN made big progress but just not enough for an absolute majority, that would be more accurate to say.
