Also, you commented that the wheel should only be turned in one direction (also very helpful). I’m trying to figure out how to use this thing (Supernova Ultra - pink/white). It has all the cams, etc. I’ve got problem regarding the belt ... it’s worn out and I’m unable to find another like this original one. Hello, thank you for your interest, basically, no noise should be made here. Please do not use the machine with active automatic. There is no grease in the mechanism, the sliding blocks run dry. There is a risk of wear and failure. The heavy gait can mean irreparable consequential damage. If the mechanism is removed and dismantled, a basic adjustment must be made and the correct grease should be used. If the service cannot guarantee that, then they are unable to do it properly and have the courage of enduring reliability.
The Necchi I have says Supernova Ultra on it. The table/desk is similar to what the old Singer sewing machines were in. There are two table top extensions that fold back to make a larger surface for the sewing area. The machine folds down into the top of the centre section via a hole in the top with a flap of board that lifts up to allow the machine to be brought into the upright position. You drop the flap back down so that the front edge of the machine rests on it. In pictures I have seen of other vintage Necchi's there appears to be a gasket around the edge of the machine that rests on the opening in the desk. My machine seems to have that gasket/edging missing. The flap that lifts up has a crack in it that has been repaired by attaching a piece of thin wood to the back of the flap, much the size and thickness of a wooden 12" ruler. I am wondering it there is fatigue in the desk structure that had caused the machine to sink down into the opening slightly. If I could use the machine in a folding sewing table like the Arrow Gidget I wouldn't bother fixing or replacing the desk. I just don't know if it would fit properly or if a cutout could be made to fit around the machine. It would be nice if I could use it but I could end up spending more on it that purchasing a new machine like the Brother straight stitcher and I would still have a machine that could have other metal fatigue problems like with the needle plate. I really want to use only it as a free motion quilting machine. I sure appreciate your taking the time to answer my questions.
Hmmm OK I can understand the problem with the furniture / table, as far as I understand it, but without a visual impression I have no idea of a practical solution. It seems much more important to me first to assess the condition and functionality of the machine, then a decision can be made as to whether it makes sense to put the table in order. Is there no way to post a video? As I said without seeing it, I can not say what the best option is. I would also be happy to help and thank you for your interest. Many greetings

In a few days I will make a video that shows the method of adjusting the cam drive for decorative stitching, and how to operate correctly.... Please tell me which type of Necchi you want to see.... Julia 534 or Supernova or the Lycia 524 Freearm. Basically are they all the same....
Thank you for your very clear explanation. I liked your joke about Mars’ sewing machines. I just bid and won a Necchi Supernova BU. I hope I won a good model. I always wanted a Necchi. As for the best sewing machine on the planet, I think it might be a toss up between the Singer 201-2 and a Necchi BU model. Just my humble opinion...
Hi J.A. , another question: the small pin immediately to the left of the camdrive axel, which appears to be flush or smooth with the surface on your machine- on my machine this pin sticks up as far as the first disk of the cam, which only allows for cams that use #0 disks on that first layer. do you have any idea how this can be lowered? I took apart the driver and cleaned it, and from that investigation i believe this pin may just be too long, may simply need to be replaced. Any help is appreciated
@ sersh Hello, the one about the pen he is sticking out and restricting use is definitely not okay. Can't you just press the pen down? Is it stuck or does it wander back up on its own? It's the first time I've heard of such problems. Unfortunately, I don't have a quick answer to the question, because I first have to see how it is put together. If I can give a conclusive and binding answer, I will write another answer. Thank you for the request, it is always interesting to hear what problems can arise. It also helps other people to keep the machine running. Greetings ...
@@necchi-pavia So I've worked through this problem and gotten the pin to sit lower and its no longer a problem. it required me to dissemble the underside of the automatic assembly: inside the cylinder with the scorch marks/braisings there are 2 levels of openings for this pin, one that limits the reciprocating action, and the other is a spring and weight that can be rotated using pliers. Both must be aligned for the pin to sit low enough to allow for the cams. The issue I'm having now is even though I've disassembled this entire automatic mechanism, cleaned and lubricated, the cam will only advance in rhythm for about a minute before it starts to just "skip" and fail to advance. It does this on the dramatic parts of the cams too, now that I've gotten them on. I'm also curious what kind of lubricant I should put inside the cylindrical assembly i described above, when i cleaned it out it seemed like it had been greased.
@@sersh3255 Hello, As far as I understand, the malfunction and the problem with the pen are resolved. I cannot give any binding information on lubrication. I lubricated my automat with gearbox oil from the car area. In my opinion, fat is not the best solution at this point.
I just inherited my grandmothers machine like this and am so excited to use it. I’ve cleaned it all up and gave it a good run. I was wondering if your machine bounces when running fast?
What brand or type of presser feet will work on the Nicchi Supernova Ultra? I have one from back in 1962. I would like to use it for free motion machine quilting but I am not sure the square darning foot would make it difficult to use that way. I would prefer to buy an open toed quilting foot but have no idea what brand would fit my machine.
can not imagine that an accessory presser foot is the best solution. Try to find the original part. The system is principally high shank, analogous to industrial machines ... I wish you success
The original foot is a darning foot and it is square not round. It is sort of difficult to use as a quilting foot especially when you are trying to follow previous lines of quilting. With the round foot you can use any edge of it to keep your spacing relatively consistent. I have not been able to find any dealer that sells original parts for my 1962 Supernova so I was hoping someone who has one would know what other makes have feet that fit the Necchi from that era. Thanks for your help with the type, high shank. That helps narrow the search.
@@alexisdunstan3944 Oh well, the Lycia 524 has a rounded presser foot in the accessories. The foot lifts after each stitch so that the fabric can be easily guided. He also has this round shape down. I think it should fit high shank accessory sewing feet. Unfortunately, I did not experience quilting ...

This is very helpful. I hope to try out my cams in the near future, but first I have to put on a new belt. The previous owner never changed the belt and it disintegrated! I have purchased a new belt but cannot figure out how to get this new "tighter" one back on the machine. The manual has no mention of this. Can you help?
Julie Meyer OK. I will soon post a Video how to remove the belt. Tell my your machine Typ. I have many necchis so i can show you on the same type the working process ...
I have a circa 1955 BU Supernova. (green and cream) The belt was easy to get off - it's the getting back on that is the problem. Any help you can give is certainly appreciated! Thank You!
Julie Meyer Hi, maybee the new belt size is wrong? Use only the exact same size as the old one. Another dimension / size is not possible to use. Bee sure that the Dimension is correct . Any other Option is impossible .
The Supernova BU is technically almost identical to the Supernova Ultra. The Ultra also has a lever for fine adjustment of the decorative stitches. In addition, it has a magnifying glass for threading. The threading aid is also an extra, which differentiates the two. There are differences in the thread tension at the top and the guidance of the thread when threading. However, both models can produce the same decorative stitches; the Ultra accessory kit is more extensive when it comes to labeling the settings. The BU had a lifetime guarantee. Conclusion: It doesn't make much difference, both machines are awesome. Best regards J.A.

Remember the box with all cam profiles.... I have any information for Supernova, Julia, Lycia etc. Whatch all my Videos , ask for more ... Ciau
I have another question about the Necchi. I took it in for cleaning and learned that it has a cracked needle plate. I still have to confirm with the repair shop if that is the only problem with the machine. However I do have a problem with the desk that came with it. It does not appear to be sitting in the desk properly. I don't know if it is the fault of the desk or the machine but I cannot slide the plate open to access the bobbin because it hits against the edge of the desk. The machine appears to be too low in the opening. I believe that that is the cause of the cracked needle plate by reason that it is putting stress on that area. Would you be able to tell me what I would need to look for in a new desk. Do they even make desks of that type any more? Can this type of machine sit in the new desks with the adjustable shelf height? I am trying to determine if I should put the money into repairing this machine.
"Hello what version and model of the machine do you have ??? I have the impression that the table is not part of the machine. There should be a NECCHI trademark on it. I hear about a broken needle plate for the first time. As far as I know there are no more spare parts. I can not assess whether accessories fit tables

Hi J. A. a question? The disc of the cam are similar to the disc of the Julia 534?
@ Marianella Montenegro
Hello thanks for the request, In my opinion the discs are identical. If someone knows better, they are welcome to join the discussion ...
I own a necchi lelia 513 with no manual and I guess my cam works different hope some day make a video of this machine thanks for you time good video
Hmmmm I actually have only a Mira 512, tis machine is only for straight stitches and zig zag.....
without cam mechanism....
here in Germany the 513 is very difficult to find, so I can't give any information about it...
thanks for the quick response and have a good time.... :-)
@@nataliegallet
Unfortunately I can not help in this case, because I have no suitable machine available.
The Leila 5 series are the last real machines produced in Italy /Pavia.
My focus is the supernova series of earlier years.
I love your German accent.
Do you have a video on how to turn the rotating cover plate? I just bought a Necchi Supernova and as yet do not have an Owner's Manual. The machine is very dirty so I am working at cleaning the exterior. When I get that done I will take it in for a tune up and get the inside cleaned and oiled. I have not sewn with it yet as I don't know how to thread it but i am getting excited about using it.
freenecchisewingmachinefiles.weebly.com/
What's the exacly function of the cam drive please
In a few days I will make a video that shows the method of adjusting the cam drive for decorative stitching, and how to operate correctly....
Please tell me which type of Necchi you want to see....
Julia 534 or Supernova or the Lycia 524 Freearm.
Basically are they all the same....
Most likely to the 513
Thank you for your very clear explanation.
Dr Michael Elinski
Thank you, the Necchi BU is a nice build machine.
Singer 201 are the benchmark for straight stich machines.
Keep it up.
Thanks to you it helps.
Hi J.A. , another question:
the small pin immediately to the left of the camdrive axel, which appears to be flush or smooth with the surface on your machine- on my machine this pin sticks up as far as the first disk of the cam, which only allows for cams that use #0 disks on that first layer. do you have any idea how this can be lowered? I took apart the driver and cleaned it, and from that investigation i believe this pin may just be too long, may simply need to be replaced. Any help is appreciated
@ sersh
Hello, the one about the pen he is sticking out and restricting use is definitely not okay.
@@sersh3255
Hello,
As far as I understand, the malfunction and the problem with the pen are resolved.
@Allison B
I think the V-belt was mounted too tight ..
Thanks J.A. Tomorrow my Supernova will be going tin for a cleaning and oiling. I am hoping the technician will be able to tell me what to look for or they may have what I need in their shop. I sure appreciate all the feedback that has come my way. It all helps. @@necchi-pavia

Julie Meyer
OK.
I will soon post a Video how to remove the belt.
Tell my your machine Typ.
I have many necchis so i can show you
on the same type the working process ...
I have a circa 1955 BU Supernova. (green and cream) The belt was easy to get off - it's the getting back on that is the problem. Any help you can give is certainly appreciated! Thank You!

Hi,
maybee the new belt size is wrong?
Use only the exact same size as the old one.
Another dimension / size is not possible to use.
Bee sure that the Dimension is correct .
Any other Option is impossible .
Thank you..I will double check that.
thanks for the info dude!
Bonjour ou trouver un bloc tension nevvjo vome le votte merci
What is the difference between Supernova Bu and Supernova Ultra?
@@necchi-pavia Thank you very much for your answer.
Another question. Can I use the instruction manual of the Ultra for Bu?
@@frann6721
Hello, if you have a Supernova BU, you can basically use the instructions of a Supernova Ultra.
The differences result from the instructions.
There are also internet sites where a free download is available.

@@necchi-pavia A month ago I bought Supernova Bu and used it and was really impressed with how well it works. And your video of the cameras that are actually used was very clear, I will buy them and with that it will be very complete, thank you again.
Hi, this Necchi Supernova Ultra sewing machine mod. 75 does elastic point? Can it also sew stretch fabrics? Can you also do embroidery?
Hi, mod. 75 is the version of the closet that is the machine mounted in.
The regular designation for the machine itself is Supernova / Ultra / Ultra mark 2...
This machines can handle any material also jersey and thin leather.
It is possible to do free hand embroidery whit the special presser foot for this...
On of the most versatile machines of this time.
If you're get a chance to pick up one of these keep it up.
Yes, I'm taking an equal "Supernova Ultra" vintage. I don't know how to use it yet, I don't know all its potential, so I'll have to learn. Thanks to you anyway and Thank you very much for the answer

Hi, where to buy such those two machines ?
Isamudin Alamin Muhammad Salih
Hi this machines are very rare.
I have search 4 years day by day all over the world to get them.
This machines are over 50 years old, and they are often in bad shape. I am lucky to have now a complete collection of most relevant Modell types from the supernova series.
This cost me a lot of Time and money....
Best regards....
J. A. Hi Dear
Thanking for nice information. As per your experience, Could you please mention the best necchi sewing machine for cams zigzag and normal sewing?
Isamudin Alamin Muhammad Salih
Hello, all the Necchi Supernova are high quality machines.
You have to find out if your better working whit an flat bead, or an free arm machine.
Qualiti and durability are almost the same.
Later models like Leila 512 are not built whit such high level mechanic
tolerances. They are not so good and durable like Supernova series.
Look for an Julia or Lycia, this is real quality and better than any vintage machine from this decade.
Best regards J.A.
J. A. Hello, Thanking you very much for your prompt feedback. How about necchi supernova automatic Ultra ?

Necchi Supernova Automatica Ultra is an excellent machine.
Be sure that machine is completed whit all accessories and all attachment.
Watch out for a refurbished machine, so you can start direct your sewing project.

The vintage NECCHI's (full Metall inside, italian made, highest qualiti) are the best
sewing machines ever made!
This machines are strong and never fail.
In 3 years of sewing , i broke one needle
cause the stetig of needle position was wrong adjustet by using straigt stich plante ...
8 layers of denim, 4 layers thin leather,
any material is no problem whit it ....
High shank presser foot system also use
on industrial machines will give you many options for sewing projects....
Class 15 (CB) bobbin are easy to find and still today standart.
Iv you buying an Supernova take care about the accesori box.
The box must complete.
The operatin manual is very important to have, cause without you cant get the adjustment for dekorative stiching .
Remember the box with all cam profiles....
I have any information for Supernova, Julia, Lycia etc.
Whatch all my Videos , ask for more ...

Thanks for your suggestions. Today I bought the Necchi supernova ultra, complete with all the accessories.
Perfect and beautiful. thank you so much
MeMelyandI
Congratulations, pefect choice ...
I hope you make good experience whit the machine.
Let me now if you have any questions...
Thank you. Unfortunately the shaky cam makes this difficult to watch.
Thanks for the remark, I make the recording freehand me the smartphone without tools, there is also no editing of the video before I upload it.
I try to work a bit professionally in the future.
