The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

The 1968 movie Oliver! is one of my favorite movies of all time! I was born in 1978! Shani Wallis should be Dame Shani Wallis! Shani Wallis never got the recognition and accolades she deserves! Even the Golden Globes calls female actors “actors”. Bette Davis and Katherine Hepburn used to demand being referred to as actors.

Wonderful voice, but inferior to another American music goddess, Dionne Warwick.
She is British. And far superior to Dionne Warwick. As was Cilla Black singing Alfie.
Not inferior, different. Both are such different singers, different styles and vocal characteristics. Both are amazing in their own ways. I think Dianne Warwick was vocally better suited to Burt Bacharach’s songs, but Shani Willis’ version here is also gorgeous.

I disagree. I think this and Dionne's and this version are the two best l have heard in their interpretation. Cilla has the vocal power, but not quite the interpretive powers, in my view. 😊
