I personally feel like Modern is Stronger Mostly because in canon and in X, which is one of the most faithful to the source material Sonic just Dog Walks Knuckles like all the time were as Movie Sonic took like a week to " defeat" knuckles even tho he didn't actually defeat him I just couldn't think of any other way to phrase it I feel like if Modern Sonic in the same situation went up against Movie Knuckles he'd have no problem or minimal problems defeating him

I always pictured Modern Sonic having more wind-based moves as opposed to Movie Sonic's more electric base moves.
