- Introducing a new backpacking loop combining the Cohos Trail, the Sentier Frontaliers and the Appalachian Trail for about 400 miles of New England mountains and mud. Starting in the White Mountains of New Hampshire we'll head north for about 160 miles before crossing into Canada to hike the Sentier Frontaliers (Border Trail) towards Maine. Once back in the US we'll travel south on the AT hitting all the peaks and views of Western Maine before returning to New Hampshire for a Presidential Traverse finale.
Those are dwarf irises. They are native to the northeast, though more common down south.
Thanks for the info. I have seen many more since. Glad they are supposed to be there because they are beautiful
