- fantastic piece of music by the Egyption composer Rageh Daoud,he is indeed a great composer not the first time i hear his music.
a little about him
Rageh Samy Daoud (b. Cairo, Egypt, November 23, 1954; first name also spelled Ragueh and last name also spelled Dawood) is an Egyptian composer of contemporary classical music. He is a member of that nation's third generation of such composers.
He is also a pianist and music professor (teaching at the Cairo Conservatoire), and has composed score for several Egyptian films. He began his studies at the Cairo Conservatoire at the age of nine, later studying composition there with Gamal Abdel-Rahim, graduating in 1977. He also studied piano at the Conservatoire with E. Puglisi.
He has composed for piano, voice, and orchestra, and has composed a number of film scores.
Daoud is married to Mona Ghoneim (b. 1955), who is also an Egyptian composer. His notable students include Mohamed Saad Basha.
now a little about the movie which i think is one of the best movies i have ever seen,and maybe i saw it more than 15 times and still can see it more:).
it is about a man Sheikh Hosny who lost his eyesight but not his vision.
Sheikh Hosny[Mahmoud Abdel Aziz]is a blind man who lives with his old mother and his frustrated son in the Kit Kat neighborhood. His son Youssef dreams of going to Europe to find work, and has a relationship with a divorced woman named Fatima. Sheikh Hosny refuses to admit his handicap and dreams of riding a motorcycle like every sighted person, he also spends his nights smoking marijuana with the locals in order to forget his miseries after the loss of his wife and selling his father's house. He knows everything about his neighbors and their secrets and love affairs
Very few movies can do that to the audience, makes you want to Cry and laugh at the same time, If you speak the Language (Arabic) you are lucky to catch the amazing simplicity yet genius dialogue, if not, even with no subtitles foreign audiences got totally immersed in the plot.
The Blind Sheikh "Hosny" (played by "Mahmoud Abdel Aziz" at his best here) is in total denial throughout the movie of his handicap.
He even ends up riding a motor bike and causing a mess, physical to him and emotional to the audience. A great Timeless movie.
Mahmoud Abdel Aziz the Best Actor Award from the Alexandria International Film Festival for his film The Gentleman (el Gentel) in 1996, and from the Arab Cinema Festival in Paris for his latest film The Magician (el Sâhir) in 2002.

The old man is speaking with all his body and his face expresses a multitude of feelings.It’s a man who doesn’t want too much from life, but he knows a lot about it.I am very impressed by the way you succeeded to make the 10 minutes to look like 1 and I had the privilege to watch your video with great pleasure.It's a lesson about the strength and courage to face a life,which isn't always good and friendly.

Most, most impressive.... The old man is blind but full of life and happy....the young one, is young and it has it all but...is so unhappy... Fantastic movie in literal and figurative sense of this word... Although we know that it's just a fruit of someone's imagination, but it utterly captivates the audience and makes us forget that we are not characters of this story...

Wow!!! Incredible music, which in fact creates the whole atmosphere of the movie. I watched it carefully, as I always do:) and I noticed there are parts that repeats the same harmonic pattern throughout the piece and give the whole scenario a painful majesty. Even the funny parts have something bitter inside. It’s a move of substance and indeed, you must know the language to feel every nuance of dialog and every sense of the words.

Well, a most INTERESTIN' movie bro,...at first just the beautiful music by Rageh Daoud and no audio , but pretty near the end,..lol...the blind father goes for a ride on a motorcycle and he's blind,...no wonder, sooner or later they go crashin' into the nile river,...hehehehe....even if i don't understand arabic i sure would enjoy seeing this movie, this is AWESOME!!! Being handicapped isn't an obstacle at all.....they can even do great things at the same time like the person portraying that role. What I am wondering about is why other people resorted to drinking liquor, smoking marijuana, drugs etc...when there are other means of diversion to forget miseries, rather than putting oneself to death...whatever. Going back, the movie & video go well with Rageh music...editing was superbly executed. Thank you dear Anca for sharing. Brilliant post!

@ossama2000il The words in the end, make me believe that he can see better than anyone in the light, as well as in the dark, because not only the eyes can see, but also the heart. The deprivation of a sense is compensated by the development of other senses and the sensibility of this man is obviously beyond the ordinary one. I believe that those who lack a sense that so richly informs our lives, are able to make up the difference.

Dear Osama....this movie makes you sad and makes me smile at the same time because despite being blind he has time for eavesdropping huh?....hahaha...hence he knew what's happening around his neighborhood.
