I followed the tutorial to get a logo to reveal by rising from the bottom. My image is alpha matted to the shape layer 1 above for the effect. For whatever reason, it counts the entire shape layer as a background. There is no way for me to make it transparent. It's only the shape layer. This is a problem

finally found what I needed. I find Adobe really nonlogical why you cant have Position tools for both the text or object and the mask. Therefore it would have been so much easier to understand.

Whatever you say at 4.53 - can't understand and is too fast. 'Click toggle mwa zmt and neep' and keep replaying but can't pick it up. Apart from that, yep good

Cheers... keep bringing it on . bravo Just a while ago i animated donuts falling into a sweet box (hiding after falling the box) and i did the process with a layer mask . but i will try this Shape mask too .. do i need to draw a shape from top of the box to the top of the preview? so it shows as long as it is in the shape i try to alpha matte the png to and it hides as soon as it comes out of the base of the shape?
Great tutorial. I really appreciated the brief explanation of how masks work @ 5.13 - not may other tuts give this broader perspective which is useful for beginners. Sure, I can copy an expression but, like a parrot speaking, I have no idea what is going on...or do parrots actually know what they are saying?!

Why doesn't this work for me? When I switch my graphic layer to Alpha Matte, the graphic disappears. Do I need to invert the shape layer somehow?
