Have always heard the Mini is quick, handles well, and gets good gas mileage.... They are also unreliable and expensive to fix, both parts and labor, and you have to take the whole front of the car apart to work on the engine . Oh yeah, and the dashboard with the giant circle in the center looks horrendous.
Mini was revamped in 2016. They updated the engine and drivetrain and have been rock solid reliable since then. All new Mini's have a four year warranty and are extremely well made.
It’s pure ignorance most of the comments you see. The 2011 and up they put in the N18 engine which is great. The 2008-9 models were horrible and gave them that reputation. My 2012 S only had a water pump go. Other than that you just want to keep up with the oil changes. And with a turbo, they do go through a little more oil so you have to add a little every few months. The F56 is the latest version and they are even more reliable. Life is too short to drive a boring car. Even the unicorn Toyota will need a water pump eventually. Just take care of what you have and you are good. Especially these days. No car company can produce a lemon these days or they go out of business fast.
