  • Watch LA based singer/songwriter Katrina Cain use the Hedra 3-voice pitch shifter pedal with the 440 Mic Pre to add multiple rhythmic harmonies and textures to her vocal productions.
    Rhythm Prism. Hedra is a 3-Voice Rhythmic Pitch Shifter. 3 voices, in rhythm combine with your original voice to create harmonies. Each voice can be delayed and fed back in 4 intricate matrices for either predictable or unpredictable results. Selectable pitch correction, micro tuning, chromatic or key driven harmony, keyboard control, glide, smooth or hard stepping and swell top off the feature list. Hook up an expression pedal directly to the back of the pedal for expressive control or automate with MIDI.

    As a singer who use hardwares effects in this "guitar and synth's world" , i felt so lonely until now.
    i would like to thank you SO MUCH for providing such a good VOCALS ONLY demo (and gear, i go buy it right now).

    one of the best demo videos ever made yall! thank you. Was getting this pedal to use with bass to expand the octave and chordal territories, but hearing this so perfectly put to the test with vocals, I'm gonna have to use this pedal with a mixer so I can run in all kinds of inputs to it! Makes using the pedal and the secondary knobs and functions easy to wrap my head around. Thank you for making a diamond in youtube demo hellscapes.

    This video sold me on the Hedra. Its pretty incredible. My one complaint - how many of the core, critical functions are hidden in unlabeled alt controls. If I have to reach for the manual every time I want to use a piece of gear, that gear has a habit of collecting dust.

    • @MerisUs
      @MerisUs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hedra's ALT controls are very easy to remember once you dive in. They're assigned to be related to their top layer control. For example, the ALT control for each pitch knob is that corresponding pitch's time division for the delay. The ALT for the Key knob sets the scale type. The Mix knobs ALT control sets delay feedback. Once you dial in a few settings and spend a little time exploring, remembering the ALT controls is easy.

    Very intrigued by the sounds @7:40. how does that actually work? Is it that the korg is sending only midi notes to the hedra about which pitches (no audio from korg)? i think you're only playing 3 note chords, so each keypress is a CC# that triggers hedra?

    If you turn the mix knob up all the way, does that turn off the original, dry signal? That way, for recording, you can put the new harmony on it's own track.

    • @MerisUs
      @MerisUs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, turning Mix completely clockwise will take out the original dry signal and you'll only have the wet/effected signal. You can also set our pedals to Kill-Dry, which is helpful for using them in sends or busses and for creating an independent track.

    How is a second inversion chord if the first pitch is a fourth below? Shouldnt it be a fifth below?

    • @KatrinaCain
      @KatrinaCain 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hey! A fourth below the root is the fifth of the chord. The other notes are root and third above. First inversion of a chord is 3rd, 5th, root. Second inversion is 5th (a 4th below the root), root, third. If the notes from low to high are G, C, E then it’s a C major chord in second inversion. G is a fourth below C.
      In the context of this example, i included the root as unison. So, a second inversion chord would be a 4th below (which is the 5th of the chord), unison, 3rd.

    • @soundbidness5959

      You would definitely need to go through a separate preamp or interface that has 48v phantom power first, then connect a cable from the preamp or interface output to the Hedra. Mono out on a preamp or left and right monitor out on interface. I saw some specific Y cables for this on Meris website that should allow left and right output on interface to go through Hedras stereo input.
