    A student's vocal technique should be in place before they attempt to sing these arias. Speaking more about my own experience.

    So lovely and generous. Lessons from an angel. I always wondered what coloratura was, and now I can appreciate it more than ever. Baroque opera and choir is incredibly artful and delicate. Your love of the music and patience in teaching is wonderful.

    I have inserted H's for most of my singing career but have realized they take too much breath away and on some of these classical passages where I need to end with power I can not afford to waste breath on the H's.

    Thank you very much for this. Could you give advice for the breathing, how to manage to sing the long coloratura parts without breaking them with a breath? Especially the most difficult one at the beginning? Thank you

    • @mariacasemyr
      @mariacasemyr  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Elisa! Thanks for visiting my channel. I think it’s okey to break the coloratura parts with a breath while practicing. Then when you have the notes well established in your body you can try to speed up tempo of the coloratura and exclude the breath. Another good practice exercise is to sing the long coloratura parts in pianissimo but still with a great support, then your vocal cords will stop leaking air and the you’ll be able to sing longer phrases. You can also practice with a straw to achieve closure of the vocal cords. Hope that helped! Greetings Maria

    • @mariacasemyr
      @mariacasemyr  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here is a video about the straw exercise! It’s the best warm up exercise for me. And I use it every day for vocal cord closure, not only when I’m sick. th-cam.com/video/mpg0gXQd24k/w-d-xo.html&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE

    The “h” before each coloratura note is not the way to sing this. It needs to stay purely on the vowel.

    Would please let me know why we need to roll the R even the lyrics were written in English , thank you very much!

    • @mariacasemyr
      @mariacasemyr  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. For me it’s much easier, technically, to roll the R since I can place the notes forward instead of backwards in my throat. I don’t know but maybe it’s also an old tradition to sing with rolling R:s in baroque music in comparison to newer music. For example, many years ago, I was studying the opera “The old maid and the thief” (1939) by Menotti and I sang it with “normal” American R:s.

    • @gorelash9056
      @gorelash9056 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is standard in baroque and classical music to roll the R. In English as well

    I don't understand why such a video is needed. There are the scores. There you can read the tone sequence. And before you can read the scores, you soulden't sing this aria.

    • @mariacasemyr
      @mariacasemyr  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends on what study method you prefer. People are different.
