I think these are great for casual shooting. Just picked one up and it's now my favorite P&S film camera behind the Pentax IQ zoom I purchased (for next to nothing) a year ago. I'd say any serious shooter should have one of these, as it seems the price is going up on them which tells me the supply may be getting scarce on this and other cameras like it.
I’ve just picked up an XA2 for an upcoming Italy trip. I knew I wanted a special way to capture the trip rather than just my iPhone… but I also know I don’t have the time between now and then to confidently use the XA. Looking forward to using it :)
Just moved back to NM after living in California for a year. Was cleaning out my old room and stumbled upon this camera! I don’t know where it came from, I think my mom got it and left it in there. Such a weird coincidence because I’ve been wanting to get into film photography for a while now. I’m so thankful! It saves me the hassle of finding one somewhere else, and all I have to worry about is purchasing film. It seems to be in really good condition so hopefully it still works!
The Xa allows you to shoot Aperture priority that with manual focus is great for a tiny little camera ! Love mine - mind you it is old so go easy - if you buy one or acquire one - it will probably need new seals - replacement seal kits available on Ebay and youtube videos to show you how ! Thanks nice vid !
Have just bought the XA2 on the strength of your videos however I am well versed in the ISO, shutter, f triangle as have a totally manual Praktica MTL5 that will punish you and has often if you get it wrong but wanted a camera for more candid street photography. I too shoot in B&W and love Ilford HP5 but also XP2 is one of my favourites. Thanks for the video, enjoyed it and looking forward to trying my XA2.
If you are wanting to eventually get into "serious" film photography but still want to start very simple and relatively cheap, what camera would you suggest?
Hi! I’m thinking about getting this camera but I’m thinking about the fact that I need to attach the flash. What has your experience been with this? thank you!!!! 😊
I dont know with which point and Shoot Camera i should start. I watched a lot of reviews and my ideas are the mju ii/ stylus, yashica T4, nikon L35 AF or the XA2. What do you think?
It really depends what you want from the camera. If you want pure point and shoot, I would suggest the Mju or Yashica, purely for the sharpness! I don't know enough about the Nikon personally, but I've seen some images from the other two and they seem like solid options! If not, the XA2 is always great :) hope that helps. All the best!
Ooooooo too many choices aren't there! If you want more control over your focus, go for the XA. The Mju is also great and super sharp (plus the built in flash is a bonus).
I liked this video but I really disagree with the advice for new photographers. The XA2 is a great camera for novices precisely because it lacks detailed controls. Learning something new can be overwhelming if there are too many aspects to control. If someone were learning to drive we wouldn't suggest that they start with a Ferrari and then move on to a Honda Civic. Minimizing frustration is the name of the game with any new endeavour. Once a person has a real sense of composition and light and the basics of film they can add in the nuance of aperture adjustments and the like.
Hey Graham - really appreciate your comment and you taking the time to say that. I completely agree with what you've said. In hindsight, I should've been clearer with my wording in the video. Thanks again! All the best

I have taken color films with XA2, but love the B&W results. It's a perfect backup cam for me back then

The Canon AE-1 is a solid camera to learn/ master the fundamentals and you can pick them up for a decent price!
The photo's looks amazing! Do you scan them also?

Would be great if you could get them for below 100£ 🤣🤣
agreed 🤣 like a lot of cameras the prices just keep climbing!
I got one for A$10 off marketplace, with a flash!
