JOE, your videos help me improve my game! Now i have better understanding of how to uses different levels to gain opening! GOOD JOB!! Greetings from Mexico.
Great video's ! I've watched them all ... And I'm learning a lot ! Thanks !! Can you also make a video about clinching techniques? That would be great !
Great series Joe really enjoying it, keep up the good work. Thanks for taking the time to chat to us at Glory45 Amsterdam. Question - why do you wear the boxing boots for kickboxing training?
First of all i love your TH-cam videos, and your style! Great videos! But the kicks in this video looks more like highkicks than bodykicks. I dont think that this block and hand positioning would work with a high guard on a well placed bodykick. My question is: would the same technique apply on a lower placed bodykick?
I think that it done mainly for safety of training. For lower body kicks you could do the traditional Thai block or for this "shield" or "Dutch" block you can lower your vase with a slight squat to make sure you catch it correctly. If you stay high and lower the hands you risk catching a head kick unprotected. You also may not necessarily worry about the lower rib kick with a "pointy elbow high guard" like Joe usually uses, as it is quite likely and easy for the opponent's kick to catch your elbow and damage their own leg. Hope that helps :)
It works the same. As be said you can counter quickly and when guys swing their arms on their kicking leg, it is 10x easier to counter as 99% of fighters will swing their arms which creates a small opening for punches. An arm in front when kicking makes it much more difficult to counter.
I know it's late but the look like the adidas hog boxing shoes. I also have a pair I use for box8ng and often in muay Thai training - especially in places that have those horrible office carpet floor tiles!
Lol maybe instead of throwing a shoulder kicking should actually throw a body kick straight across which this block will not work. You must turn your core and block with both forms same thing with head kicks to prevent wrap around also your car would be whelmed for a great counter.
So you're saying just turn your core and block with both forarms right? That's what i was guessing but wouldn't that take too long? And also leave your face exposed. But i guess with practice you can become quick with it
Bro those are head kicks.. he's not even throwing any body kicks. This traditional block is not efficient for blocking body kicks..I love kicking people in the body when they block this way always gets through especially to the liver.
When you trow the hooks you let you head exposed with every punch? defense lvl 0. is looking good on the camera but in real life if the guy counter, you are down.
The instruction you're seeing on this video is very bad. Blocking a kick with your arms will result in a broken arm or at the very least an injured arm. You will do much better moving in closer because this will remove the power of the kick. If you cannot move in closer, you need to turn your body so the kick will land on your shoulder area or the upper back. You don't block a kick. You avoid the kick from landing where it was intended.
The first few are not body kicks, they are way too high up to be a body kick. On the other hand it's too low to be a high/head kick. That's about chest height, aint nothing there. Spleen/liver height is the height you want to aim at. Or the ribs, just above the liver/spleen section.
Great job dude, I'm blessed to come across you on Joe Rogan's podcast and then finding your channel, I learn so much. Keep it up please.

Great series Joe really enjoying it, keep up the good work. Thanks for taking the time to chat to us at Glory45 Amsterdam. Question - why do you wear the boxing boots for kickboxing training?
Nice
👍
Do you block with 2 arms at the same time or you first block with the glove

These same style of kicks work for body kicks as well esp when they come to the ribs. You can take a lot of pressure off and minimize damage.
Got another fight coming up against a kicker im drilling this asap
I really liked and fond this video to be very helpful but I have one question will this drill and approach work if you're the shorter fighter ??
It works the same. As be said you can counter quickly and when guys swing their arms on their kicking leg, it is 10x easier to counter as 99% of fighters will swing their arms which creates a small opening for punches. An arm in front when kicking makes it much more difficult to counter.
I take it that you're not going to accidentally (sp.?) parry your opponent's leg underneath your elbow, thereby sending his kick into your ribs.
Good stuff. What shoes are you wearing? Also, are you going to look at defending punches any time soon?
Sebastian Hay they look like adidas wrestling shoes! Not sure which model tho
I know it's late but the look like the adidas hog boxing shoes. I also have a pair I use for box8ng and often in muay Thai training - especially in places that have those horrible office carpet floor tiles!

Exactly those kicks were going to the shoulder.... I wanted to learn how to block body kicks not high high kicks
So you're saying just turn your core and block with both forarms right?

Lol the cross hook cross return.
The kicking guy stands on his toes when kicking. It’s totally incorrect.
for z high back leg kick i was told to be on my toes. his switch kick looks a tad off on the landing and recoil though

He is pro fighter,i guess he knows better than you
That's no body kick. That's high kick.

Who down voted this video?😂
There’s always one!!
Joes chest grows another cup size every vid O_o

Thai fighters often purposely kick the arms of their opponents.
