  • In today's episode of Lambvinskis Garage, we ran down to Oregon for a goofy little pickup, this time it's a 1963 Studebaker Champ!! This quirky little truck is pretty neat. Join us as we make it run and drive again, as well as make it more reliable and better to drive! This one was pretty fun, so sit down, strap in, and enjoy!

Of all the vehicles I’ve owned over the past fifty years, I miss my 1960 Champ the most

Love Studebaker! That dash cluster is similar to a Chevy II of the same period, simple

Just some clarification: Studebaker did not use up surplus Dodge beds to make the P2 "spaceside" bed which came online midway through the 1961 model year. Studebaker bought the dies from Mopar and used their plant to produce all the pieces necessary to make this bed - only thing they had to change was make a new tailgate center (lettering was not different than the regular narrow Studebaker bed), and probably make different mounting points. The overdrives were made by Borg Warner. The handle pulled out, locks out the overdrive - nothing but a three speed. With the handle pushed in - the truck will go into overdrive once the correct speed is reached (25-35), some magic happens with the solenoid and governor, let off the throttle, and it will slid into overdrive. The switch on the throttle linkage is the kick-down. Looks like you got a peach - good luck!

You know I was sad to see her go but boy did she ever land at the right shop! You gentlemen where a pleasure to work with and it almost brought a tear to my eye hearing her run again! I still haven’t found that other hubcap but if I do you will be the first to know
