Hello, the stone used is a checkerboard cubic zirconia emerald, which has a flat back. The bezel cups do not work with faceted stones, as they have a flat bottom. Hope this helps!
I'm new to silver metal clay and am watching a ton of videos before starting my first project. Is there a reason why the bezel wasn't attached when first firing the piece? So you'd have a clay piece, paste, and then bezel?
Hello, EZ960 fires at 1675°F. The bezel cup is fine silver, which should not be fired higher than 1650°F. You could fire the bezel cup with the clay if you were using fine silver. Hope this helps!
That would make sense. Thank you for the explanation! The Cool Tools video tutorials have been incredibly helpful in learning things and I'm feeling more confident about accomplishing my first project soon!
Lovely earings!!! And not too difficult to make....
Did you use a flat backed gem stone? Do the cups work for faceted stones¿
