A further detail to that project would be some expanding tube material or some electrical shrink wrap to cover the stiches, and perhaps even soften the 'ends' of the lanyard. As a boating person, I wonder if you would use whipping twine in this situation (I use it when splicing sheeting) - I wonder if the sewing machine would be able to process using waxed whipping twine... ? might be an interesting experiment... (with the right needle etc)
Jason! your videos are interesting to see what you are up to in Florida. I got a small pack of #22 scalpels the other day and they are great for removing stiches on mockup/prototypes. Im making a little handlebar bag for my son and they are handy.
I know 'your not a tailor' but starting to wonder if this thing will actually properly seem up a Jeans, as you continue the journey, double plus good if you have a twin need setup and can get a bar tack over both ends of the seam folds. Thanks for the continued documentation of the machine, it's been fascinating to see what they are actually useful for, especially given the constraints of actually getting a real walking foot industrial machine, as much as I want one.
Hi, just like every other person my water bottle pocket on my backpack doesn’t fit my hydra like flask and was wondering if you can do a tutorial on how to sew straps onto a backpack because I already have the straps if I saw it just as itself will I caused any leaks?
Hi! If I'm understanding your question correctly, sewing through the backpack would cause "leaks" if the backpack is waterproof, which most are not. If it is at least highly water resistant, you could always use a silicone seam sealer over the stitches to help maintain water resistance if that's important to you. The "correct" way to do it would be to take the bag apart, sew the straps into the seam allowance, then reassemble the bag, but that can be very challenging, and sometimes not worth the time and effort. Some little scalpels would have ben handy to rip out the terrible stitches on my first bar tack on this project!
