Being an atheist makes you appreciate life because you know there is not an after life so you would not want to be killed or kill others. Many religions have the concept of redemption so no matter how horrible of a crime you commit you can always ask for forgiveness and you will be good as new. This speaker and some other more fundamentalist teachers from Islam and every religion that use vocal modulations and cadence that are akin to the rhetorical style of Hitler are I think what perpetuates the lack of understanding by most folks who are just hearing anger and hyperactive speech instead of a clearly delivered message that is clear to a non muslim.

You have a very distorted view of atheism. Most atheist I know are many times more moral and ethical than religious people. Many European countries have large quantities of atheists and they less crime than countries with atheism. In US we have 10 % atheists but about 0.2 percent of people in prison are atheists. There are many studies that show atheism correlates with better standards of living, intelligence and ethical behavior.
