- Today we put the Ski-Doo Turbo VS Polaris BOOST in a head to head drag race. while there's no doubt the Polaris is faster it almost seemed as though whichever snowmobile I was riding was the faster one.
Thanks to @Mikeaugust_ for the drone video and sick riding
Thanks to @Jasonmcmurray for the video and sick riding as usual!

Pretty impressive that a turbo khaos 155 that trenched down and, was behind off the start even out pulled the longtrack turbo Skidoo on a climb!
It's definitely the best drone footage to date!! Awesome day with a little trees, open areas, and some great drops with big air. YeeeHaaaw!!
Some great moments for sure!
Awesome intro for day 22 Matt. Everything is bright and shiny with the sun … NICE !!!
WICKED Drone shots … best video of the season for me so far. Keep up the amazing work Matt & Friends !!!
Thank you 🙏
@@MuskokaFreerider What drone was used for the follow shots? Was it flying itself?
@@MuskokaFreerider what drone does Mike have?
@@thecmilk7684 yeah, that was a Skidio 2 , super intuitive AI tech with 6 4k cameras for obstacle avoidance. I have one and it is impressive, use it on mx bike on the track but have yet to use it on the mountain sledding yet . The drawback on the mx track is I outrun it on some fast straightaway- 50-55 mph. The drone top speed is 36- 38 mph.
@@johnbabb1138 I figured that was it just wanted to confirm.
Basically, Matt is a better/lighter rider than the others… :) and that extra Polaris HP is doing its job leaving Skidoo behind. This video is exactly as expected in my estimation. It’s been great to hear the differences. Matt, you need a CONCLUSION video at some point comparing the two… lots of people going to inform their next season’s purchases on your opinions here!
It isn't surprising the polaris is faster, it makes more power at elevation, the turbo doo's only makes up for the power lost due to elevation
Yes, and the sled is 25 pounds lighter, 5 pounds lighter track and belt drive
@@ERVDSR and runs alot more boost
@@xxxELIMINATORxxx and more power naturaly aspirated
Curious question - is the fuel economy similar between the two or does the Polaris use more gas?
@@bruceritchie7613 He's said that fuel consumption is very similar between the two.
Looks like you're having a lot more fun on the Poo vs the Doo so far.
Um yeah, waaay more poo than 💩
@@rgr798 ski doo over rated
Best video yet! “#22 of 22”. Your not the only one doing these type of videos now, but you are doing them the BEST!
Keep em comin Matt!
Drone footage is sick! That thing did a pretty good job following him for a flying robot. Definitely a cool addition to the footage
Amazing tech thesedays. Follow you drones are sick
Wow.... simply amazing and beautiful. The drone footage was awesome. Definitely one of my favorite videos this year. Thanks so much for putting out these awesome videos everyday. Let's us sled heads live through your day and enjoy when we aren't able to get out and ride. Hope the rest of your season is as fun and you get many more bluebird days.
Awesome video, I think they get better everyday!! Keep adding in the drone footage I think that gives best views of the terrain for sure.
Thanks!
As a 60+ east coast trail sledder, you bring my dreams of riding pow pow to realization. With some of your camera expertise it's like I'm riding the sled. Watch all your videos. As aways another great day.
Same, 53 western Mainer. Headed up to the county this morning. What I'd give to be 25 yrs younger with the sled tech available today. Be all over the mountains out west. The constant stucks just to much to start that process at my age now. Be worn out by 10am 🤦♂
Drone video was awesome! This was maby the best episode yet. Loads of epic scenes, one after another.
Thanks!
I had a new Polaris in 2008. It seized on the trailer after 365km use. Since then I wanted to switch to brp. I bought a lynx in 2017. Zero issues with my lynx. My Polaris never stopped leaking oil. Tried to fix it 3-4 times without success. cheap Polaris plastic fuel/oil tubes got hard after 2years use. I also found metal shavings in the fuel tank, no fuel filter. I guess it was designed to fail prematurely.
That’s funny I’ve had 6-7 different Polaris sleds and wheelers and they all have been good to me
from the Dragon era, no surprise, those were the days! and that Dragon 800, needed a power Commander to keep it running))
as far as ATVs and snowmobiles go I have seen more problems on the popos and brand new ones at that. Two summers ago my dad had a few coworkers ride with us with 2 new sportsmans (less than a year old) with one that kept needing to be jumpstarted and one with a malfunctioning gas gauge. I also just went riding my sled earlier and saw an abandoned polaris on the trail. It may have been a blown belt since it was at the end of a looooong flat stretch everyone blasts down. The moron even left it in the middle of the trail right after a hill so if you are bombing down the trail at high speeds you might not see it until it's too late.
@@Freneticburn how about Etec 800's from 2014, crank issues>?
I hurt my back in October and haven't been able to ride my new Boondocker this winter. Hoping for a faster recovery now, but let me tell you... your videos sure do help. This one was great, keep it up! - Longtime fan from Sweden! :)
Drone footage was sick but my favorite is camera mounted on the rear facing forward. Sick video to today boys thanks for sharing it with us.
I been putting your title in the search bar for a couple months now ahahah Soo glad you are doing so much testing and posting
You know your doing pretty good in the snowmobiling community when you have more subscribers than 509
enjoy your Poo! born and raised in this area, ride a 2022 doo, and have to say we have had different results in our comparison .In fact on the boosts, one has blown his motor, one had clutch issues, and the other had shocks issues, so guess your one of the lucky ones or there is more to the story.I know after all of this I will be sticking with the BRP family!
Do you do anything with your gopro setting? If so you should do a video on it! Your videos are always so clear and perfect!
It’s crazy how much rider weight matters . I’d be interested to see you line up against a 154 with a 2.5 lug against both your 3” 154 doo and your 155 Polaris Boost. The 2.5 track speed under load is greater than the 44-45 I’m seeing on the Boost.
Hi Matt, do you have any suggestions on how a few 40 year old veteran Flatlanders should start our fist mountain ride/trip? We would be renting sleds upon arrival. Thanks for the great content! Your dad is an outstanding inspiration!
Truly awesome footage!! And you seem to be getting more and more natural on the Polaris, great riding!
That Skydio footage is awesome! The tracking is pretty amazing!
Hey Muskoka, I saw you at the bottom of Boulder opening day with Dawson! At the beginning of your video I noticed you had the same issue woth ski stoppers as I do. I ate them up lots in my sled. The BWC Gripper Ski stoppers are amazing! They are all I run for tree riding now on my stage 3 axys 155 and have noticed some great stability, strength, and feel out of them. I'd love to gift you a set to try out and get your opinion on! Thanks man! Keep up the videos!
The turbo of a ski doo isnt the same than a polaris turbo. the turbo of the skidoo only keep the performance as you are climbing up the mountain so it will be the same preformance 10 m than at 3000 m. The turbo of polaris is diferent because it make the it makes the sled more powerful not only keeping the performance.
: i had a question @muskokafreerider do you use t-motion on the ski doo ?
This, is the best video ever! You're a trooper Matt! Keep up the drive footage, it's awesome ,keep up the good work!
After your crash last year it was pretty awesome to see you jumping again. Good job man.
Matt and Team FreeRiders has to be one of the Best Footage. But I still think no one Else can come close too you Guys on TH-cam. Still #1 in my Book. PS I try to watch all Snow shed Videos
yes that drone footage was wild, definitely need more of that view. keep up the great work as always.
Yea, it isn't just the lack of tunnel float/friction that keeps the Skidoo from jumping out of it's rut the way the Polaris does, the Polaris does come out of the pocket faster, the initial impulse difference is significant, even before they hit the meat of the HP curve.
It's that polaris track angle they have always got on top easier. Rmk over khaos should be even quicker
End of the day the riders going to make more difference than any minor HP difference but have to think with Poo being stronger in the motor that they will bump a bit of boost if there has not been much warranty claims
Hi guys. Great video. What brand of drone is @mikeaugust flying to get that great footage in the trees?
Skydio 2
I think it all comes down to personal preference on what sled to buy. I think the RMKs are better sleds in terms of ease of maneuvering and power, but I love the engineering and reliability of ski-doo. Owned 2 arctic cats and an RMK, and they both broke down on me with low miles. Ski-doo hasnt let me down in the past 5 years of owning them.
The drone footage rocked. Loved it
This was my favorite video this year so far. Dude keep the awesome content coming. We also have good snow this year in Idaho where I live.
Yup after those races I like the way that Skidoo turbo sounds more. Kind of sounds like the Solid Turbos on the cats. 5 more days till Revelstoke 😁
Yup, and i like how the polaris out pulled every time..guess im more of a performance guy and a "sound" guy
@@rgr798 didn't say I'd chose the doo over the Polaris. Fact is I'd choose an NA and put an aftermarket turbo on it before I pay 21k+ for factory sled.
@@fnatomagan fair enough!!!
That drone footage was pretty wild! What kind of drone is that?
Skydio 2 with AI technology
The drone shot were awesome great video again!
Awesome video, love waking up and watching new content
I think this is the best video of the year so far!
Great video Matt...those drone shots were sick!
I hate long videos and this one felt like 2 minutes man...I was like WTF, it was just getting good man! Then I look up at the time, 17:16...oh.... LMAO
I can't believe that auto drone didnt clip a tree. Unreal, what's that thing called?
Skydio 2
What happened to Dallas? They were together pretty much every ride last year.
That following drone shot was incredible. You'll need to pickup one of those for sure!
try some durapro ski rubbers. i used to blow out a couple pairs each season. never blown a durapro and they have a lifetime warranty
I wonder how the 180 HP 2023 Summit will perform ?
Your videos are incredible ! Really enjoy the views and content.
That drone footage was epic! Great video. Polaris walking the doo’s was surprising.
Love the drone shots that follow the rider. Do more of that.
Would be interesting to have seen track speed comparisons between the 3 drag racing
Drone footage😳😳😳!!! Pretty impressive how it managed in the woods!
When you are full throttle with the Munster finger, does the lever touch the handle bar? Or is there a gap between bar and lever?
What drone was he running? Great video...
Edit - I looked it up. Looks like the Skydio 2+
The drone footage was cool. Keep on having fun.
Great video! Those drone shots were awesome!
Awesome video! I’d love to see a new “breathe” snowmobile video with new technology!!!
What he said. Love that classic sled vid.
Howdy Matt what type of radio do you run on the mountain? Looking at a new one as my previous is not holding up in the cold anymore.
I was skiing at the hill in revy yesterday as well and it was gorgeous
That rear view is awesome
Might be faster but you will need your toolbox with you. Lmfao
Couldn't agree more. Primary clutch poor, berings from China wear quickly. I stopped buy Polaris due to amount of repairs and ruined weekends due to down unit. Note, the Doo is a 6yr old chassis.
It was his freeride turbo that sized, remember ?
@@ERVDSR true story. Very rare
@@ERVDSR And?
I love your videos and I get to go sledding this weekend in Mcbride I’m so excited and I love watching ur videos every morning
After riding with the skydio and working with its video would you recommend it?
That looks like so much fun thanks for sharing this video with us
Is that the normal rpm they run at 8400?
Also, what drone did your buddy have? Looked like it did very well on obstacles avoidance.
Probably the Skydio 2
That drone footage was impressive forsure! I know that exact tree zone you were playing in. Had a ton of fun last year playing in it.
Boulder?
@@MuskokaFreerider my bad I thought the little cabin was keystone. I love the tree drainages there.
Hows the glove box on that polaris? My buddys is always full of snow dust.
Your rippin that Polaris bud cheers
incredibly awesome vid especially watching from the drone!! 3 thumbs up.😉
Awesome video today, sweet drone clips...
Beauty day. Had a beauty sunday here in ontario yesterday. My son rode trails first time yesterday. All beat to hell trails. Dye to be there. Beauty
I wonder how these sleds match up with a sidewinder mtx. And just for fun a mtx with a 270 tune
Crazy drone footage! Loved it
Really enjoyed the shots from the drone
Respect to you for the dedication love it!!
Now the big question, what have you found the reliability like on the Polaris vs the doo? Not hate, actually curious cause I’ve been thinking of getting back on a Polaris maybe
They have both treated me great this far
Loved the drone shots!
Anyone know where they are riding in BC? Any advice for finding good backcountry riding spots?
Hey man, love the videos, keep the great job. Gotta love that drone footage tho.
would be interesting to have a pro RMK boost in the mix as well which should get up out of the snow even quicker.
Maybe I’ll have the chance to ride with one at some point
How long does these sleds last when you drive them like this? Full throttle all the time and high rpm's
Damn that Skydio was pretty impressive, I wouldn't have thought it'd handle trees that tight. Kicking myself for not picking one up during the sale in November.
Great video again makes me want to get a sled again.
Will you ever go back to non turbo sleds. ?
Best Videos Out There.
What was the heavyduty ski rubbers i know durapro is one any other?
Incredible drone footage. Which drone is it? Would be awesome for videoing surf riding the jet ski.
Skydio 2
the tracking and obstacle avoidance of the skydio is impressive
Nothing on the market better than it that's for sure.
Yeah that drone video is awesome
What is the make/model of the drone plz
My god your videos are good! How much time do you spend editing at night? I agree with others, that drone is pretty wild👍
That drone footage is on point
Dang I guess we know what drone your getting!!
Great vids, just curious what is your ski width?
That skydio drone footage was top notch. I'm sure some of it wasn't smooth but the bits you show Simply can't get shots like that with a regular dji as it's navigating through the trees autonomously. Not cheap though - maybe a good idea for a GoFundMe type deal. 👍👍
I found myself even more envious watching the video today than i do most days....lol...ridiculously awesome!! I think we might have a convert, way more poo than doo. Well in all fairness, the doo did seize up new out of the box, so there is that...lol
The skydio drone footage was awesome I think you need to buy yourself one
Did he take off the thumb throttle on the khaos?
I thought the Polaris' boost is set up higher the Doo's, something like a 7 for Poo and 3 for Doo?
poo advertises up to 9 and doo 4
POLARIS SKI RUBBERS ARE TRASH. Durapro's are pretty awesome though. I was having to reseat the stock ones every single ride.
Great video!
Looks awesome to be up there never been up in the mountains yet one day eh
