Thanks again for reacting to my suggestion! This song is the theme of Netflix' series "The Last Kingdom". Eivør did the whole soundtrack and it's nothing but epic! If you ever get the chance to see her live I would tell you to go there! I will send you another song by her, just let me know if you like a folky or english song 😉
She's just incredible! Watch carefully how she plays the drum by hand and bass drum with her right foot. She is just so talented this woman, and humble. And she paints amazing paintings too.... Be safe
As mentioned below, this is the title tune of the BBC/Netflix show The Last Kingdom and was written by John Lunn. Her own music is a wild mixture of Scandinavian synth pop with trad and folk influences. She can sing pretty much anything from jazz to opera and anything in between.
She doesn't just sing the theme song in The Last Kingdom. She actually sings in every single episode of the series and she also sings in the movie The Last Kingdom. She has been a part of the series from start to finish.
I believe the gutteral vocalisation is Faroese throat singing. A very old traditional skill similar to keening. This most certainly was a thing to the Norse back in the day when the sword and axe gave Kings and Queens their power.
She is one of the best vocalist I've ever heard. This is Faroese throat singing, passed down from her family.

Eivor is my favorite female singer ever
I stand in awe of this woman. She is an ancient Nordic spirit who walks among us.

This is Völuspá she’s singing at least some of the first two verses 😂 now I know why this song was bugging me so much. I was like I know this
Goddess!
The drum certainly is traditional. It's a shamanic drum, used in many very old cultures. It may be one of humanity's oldest musical instruments.
Thx guys
Woooooo
I think I'm going to watch the series, the last Kingdom again
You must do “Influencer” by BandMaid. It has a great bass and guitar solo! It’s one of my favorites from BandMaid!
