    Thanks all! I have been using this lens and it has become my #1 on the SL2-S which is crazy as I have always been a prime guy. I have many more newer images added to the written review here: www.stevehuffphoto.com/2021/07/25/the-leica-24-70-f-2-8-vario-elmarit-l-mount-lens-review/

      Thanks for all of the information on the SL2-S system and the lenses. Your videos weighed heavily in my decision to buy one of the kits, and I am thrilled with the camera and the lenses. I really do appreciate the time and effort that you put into your videos. And as a side note - I love your property and I like the idea of retiring somewhere like that. Can you tell us what part of the country that is?? Thank you

    I loved this one again! great. Do you have an idea of the comparison with the Lumix SPro 24-70 f/2,8 ?

    I have a Leica SL, the original one, with the 24-90mm monster lens. You’re right. It’s heavy and big, but a great camera and lens. I love it, but I tend to use my small TL2 for every day use because it’s small and light.

      Am considering getting this combination. SL 601 + 24-90. Is the 24-90 that good or should a sigma 24-70 be a wiser choice. Am not worried about size!

    Perhaps a tad off topic…what kind of bird feeder is that?? Looks so cool! I know - I’m taking gear review to a whole new level with this question!

    Glad you’re back talking about the Leica SL line, and this new lens! What do you think the chances are that Leica will also release a 70-200 f/2.8 lens eventually as well? I guess they’ll have to wait until Sigma finally releases theirs in the L-mount? 😝

    • @fotonutzz
      @fotonutzz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally agree. Hopefully Leica will come up with a 70-200/2.8 DG DN as the existing 90-280 is just too huge.

    • @HiFiHuff
      @HiFiHuff  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it would be very smart for Leica to release a 70-200 2.8. I hope they do and if they do I will 100% review it as I need something with some reach around here. ; )

    Is it a deal breaker when it comes to image stablizer on either cam and lens?

      The IS helps in getting crisp images and compensate shaky hands even if you shoot faster shutter speed, I think it is mandatory for my usage.

    The sl2s is a great camera, pure class in it’s simplicity. Very heavy but reassuringly so I would say. I need a cheap m mount option. VOITLANDER , TTArtisan or 7artisans? Any suggestions for a 35 & 50 ? I have a 35mm Nikon f2 that I’m going to try on the sl2s.

    It's probably a re-packaged Sigma, which is not a bad thing. Still, it is probably optimized for Leica SL cameras, and has sturdier construction with metal. I love my Sigma 24-70mm for my Sony cameras.

    and compare to the lumix 24/70 S Pro with his nice focus clutch for manual focusing ?

    • @DidierMOULINPhotography
      @DidierMOULINPhotography 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The clutch for manual focussing is not that good when you see how it works.
      Say you are in AF mode and want to adjust the focus manually. You pull the clutch towards you and jump into manual focus mode. But the focus is made to the former position of this manual focus ring that does not follow the AF focus distance. Let's say it was 3m the last time you used the Manual Focus ring pulling the clutch and now you are focusing 0,9m. you completely loose the position of the AF mode as the lens goes back to this 3m distance from the east time you used it. And you need to turn the focus ring to come back to 0,9m... having it on my 70-200 I can tell you that I really don't like this clutch at all.
      I largely prefer being in Manual focus mode with pressing the joystick for AF and as soon as I grab the focus ring, I can tune my focus manually without loosing the focus distance.

    I wish someone would break away from this 24-70 range. It would be SO much more useful to have a 50-100 f2. Surely that would be easier to make as well and SO much more used for shooting people

    I’ve only had two sigma lenses and both needed af fine tuning and I just couldn’t get it to work like my native lenses.. I’m considering getting the SL2S but can anyone report back if the 24-70 sigma needs af tuning?!

    If only the SL 2 S had a tilt screen ………..if only. I went for the LUMIX S5 & Sigma 24-70 , in Australia the numbers are $4500 for my kit vs $9000 with the sigma & $10;500 with the VE 24-70. In the present climate Less is more.

    Doesn't the Leica SL2-S use the same image sensor as the Sony A7 III?

    • @HiFiHuff
      @HiFiHuff  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's never been announced, confirmed or mentioned by Sony or Leica. Doesn't matter, it's the implementation that is key. Even if two cameras use the same sensor, their performance can be drastically different in color and even high ISO. The A7III's color is no where near the Leica's color. They are different. Most importantly, the Sony body feels like an actual Toy compared to the SL2S.

  • @Daniel-eh7iq
    @Daniel-eh7iq ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm hesitating buying a Leica SL2 or a Hasselblad X1DII. The first one is a result coming from Leica, Panasonic and Sigma (the L-mount), and the second one is made in China. And I do have problems with this. If I spend +10K on a camera, I want it to be genuine German or Swedish built. No...I don't want a sigma lens on my SL2! It's like having a Mercedes-AMG engine in your Aston Martin. And even if it's a great engine.....no, just no...
