Before the latest round of renovations, after the game Berry Tramel of The Daily Oklahoman wrote an article about OU-Texas at the Cotton Bowl. It read something like this: "The seat are hard to get in and out of, ingress and egress to the stadium is terrible, the concessions suck, the bathrooms leak and the facade is crumbling. In other words, it is PERFECT." The 2024 game will be my 48th straight.

Not a fan of either school, but yeah, it's the best rivalry environment in the sport. It's a bit sacreligious that it's now in the SEC. Feels like it was stolen from Texas by Southerners. They still feel way out of place in the state. There's some cultural comraderie, but Texas will always be its own thing, and with UT and A&M in the SEC, it feels like the state is tainted.

  • @Gutslinger

Isn't it strange that they're raising taxes to pay for the $140 million in Cotton Bowl upgrades, and then still reaping the profit rewards from attendees?
Could you imagine any of us commoners having that privilege? Duping customers and non-customers into paying extra for maintenance on your store building, on top of paying out the ass for your product?
And according to the news segment I watched, those upgrades won't be for seating. But supposedly for the press box, concessions, and bathroom upgrades. 🤔 Makes you wonder how much will be spent on the press box/media team's accommodations as opposed to the fan's accommodations.
