ABOUT SRI KRISHNA BALARAMA SEVA TRUST
In 2016, the Government of Rajasthan and the Jaipur Nagar Nigam decided to partner with Hare Krishna Movement Jaipur, which runs the Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir at the Akshaya Patra mid day meal centralized kitchen campus at Jagatpura, Jaipur. The full time missionaries of Hare Krishna Movement accepted the humble service to mother cows at Hingonia. A special purpose vehicle, Sri Krishna Balaram Seva Trust, was set up to run the Hingonia centre with the aid of Jaipur Nagar Nigam. This trust is a non profit organization, dedicated for serving the cattle at Hingonia. The Trust consists of 3 government officials, 3 independent trustees and 9 missionary trustees. The operations are managed by the full time missionaries of the Trust.
In the beginning, there were many challenges that had to be faced such as excessive deaths of cattle due to rains, poor infrastructure etc. Over the years, with the help of Jaipur Nagar Nigam as well as generous donors, the infrastructure has been improved along with introduction of more efficient management systems and processes. An improved ICU and medical care facility for the cattle has also helped bring down the overall death rate of cattle. The total number of cattle has gone up from a little over 6,000 in 2016 to more than 13,000 in 2020, after the Trust has taken charge of the centre. Many initiatives have also been taken up to make the centre self sustaining such as sale of dairy products. Projects like bio gas plant are also under way to increase the revenue generation capabilities of the centre.
